    • PURPOSE:To enable to obtain a reaction similar to that in rowing for an actual race even when pulling an oar while maintaining a boat in a stopped condition, by a method wherein a water gate lid provided with a hole is fit to a blade, and water is permitted to flow through the hole. CONSTITUTION:The blade 1 of the oar is provided with a plurality of water gates 2-4 differring in size, and the water gate lids 6 provided with the holes 8 are fit respectively to the water gates 2-4. Since water pressure is released through the holes 8, the reaction to the oar is lightened. Accordingly, even when pulling the oar while maintaining the boat in a stopped condition, the oar can be pulled in the same manner as in actually rowing the boat.

    • An improvement to oars which will provide additional power per stroke for the same effort from the oarsman. An oar for a watercraft, the oar comprising a blade and a shaft, the blade having a front side and a back side, and the shaft having a longitudinal axis; wherein the blade includes a plurality of slit shaped openings oriented substantially perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the shaft and passing from the front side to the back side is disclosed. Also disclosed is an oar for a watercraft, the oar comprising a blade and a shaft, the blade having a front side and a back side, and the shaft having a longitudinal axis; wherein the blade includes a plurality of openings passing from the front side to the back side; and wherein the smallest lateral dimension of each opening is 5 mm or less. Further disclosed is a method of increasing the efficiency of an oar comprising a blade by providing a plurality of openings passing from a front side of the blade to the back side of the blade. The openings may influence the flow around the blade so that the blade is more efficient, and thus may produce more useful work in moving a boat than a solid blade with no openings.

    • PURPOSE: A scull shaft length adjusting device is provided to be assembled with a connection pipe and a first shaft through an insertion process of a first shaft connecting part and a connection pipe. CONSTITUTION: A scull shaft length adjusting device comprises an insertion barrier hole(2), a second shaft(12), a connection pipe, a hanging fixation part, and a clamping part. The insertion barrier hole is formed in the front and rear sides of the connection side of a tubular shaft(11). The second shaft is inserted inside the shaft. The connection pipe comprises the expanding portion, in which the connection side of the shaft is inserted, and the suction pipe in which the outer circumference of said the second shaft is inserted. The clamping part makes the interval of the opened gut hole narrow to reduce the diameter of the suction pipe and fixes the second shaft on the suction pipe.

CONSTITUTION: A rowing device for a boat comprises support units(10), a set of rotating rods(20), scull bar connection bolts(30), scull bars(40), and a sliding seat(50). The support units are installed in specific positions in a stem part of a hull and each of them comprises multiple vertical members(11) and a horizontal member(12). The set of rotating rods is rotatably coupled to one end of the horizontal member of the support units by a bearing. Each scull bar connection bolt is rotatably coupled to one end of the rotating rods by the bearing and connects with a scull. The scull bar is coupled to the scull bar connection bolt to be freely rotated and the scull is arranged in one end thereof. The sliding seat allows someone to pull the sculls in a seated state and comprises guide rails(51), a sliding plate(52), and a foot belt(53).
