The cooperation between the cyclodextrin grafted onto the thermoplastic polymer and the polymer structure can provide barrier properties to a film, web or other polymer structure. A permeant or a contaminant can be complexed or trapped within the polymer and held within the film or Web preventing the permeant or contaminant from passing into the interior of a container or enclosure.

摘要： It has now been found that the incorporation of nanosized metal particles into cyclodextrin-containing material leads to a 'reactive' barrier material having excellent barrier properties. More specifically, it has been found that the presence of nanosized metal or metal alloy particles in a barrier material, preferably a thermoplastic material, wherein said material comprises cyclodextrin derivatives, is advantageous in achieving excellent barrier properties. The barrier material of the present invention provides improved barrier resistance to a variety of permeants and/or impurities. The diffusion of volatile substances through the barrier material is prevented by adding compatible derivatized cyclodextrin and nanosized metal particles to the material used. Accordingly, the inventive material also is suitable for many applications including food-contact packaging, flexible packaging to dispose of adult and baby diapers, incontinent products, hospital and household waste and also for packaging pharmaceutical products, medical devices and dental materials.

摘要： The invention relates to fiber materials having improved malodor scavenger properties and a process for the manufacture of said materials. The invention especially relates to fiber materials usable in the manufacture of disposable or washable diapers, incontinent products, sanitary napkins and other such hygiene and personal care articles with improved malodor scavenger properties, and to methods of manufacturing such materials. It has been found that the incorporation of, especially nanosized, metal particles and/or a cyclodextrin material into fibers creates a 'reactive' material having excellent malodor scavenging properties. More specifically, it has been found that the presence of nanosized metal or metal alloy particles and/or a cyclodextrin material in a fiber material, preferably a synthetic polymer material and more preferably a synthetic thermoplastic polymer fiber material leads to fiber materials or nonwovens having odor-controlling properties. The inventive fiber material especially is useful in the manufacture of hygienic products like disposable diapers.

摘要： Nonwoven cellulosic fiber webs including, paperboards and corrugated paperboard, etc., are described containing a barrier layer (250) that can act both as a barrier to the passage of a permeant and as a trap for contaminant materials that can arise in new materials or from the recycle of fiber in the manufacture of paperboard. The effective material which acts as a trap or barrier is a cyclodextrin compound, substantially free of an inclusion complex compound. The cyclodextrin barrier layer (250) can be corrugated or sheet laminated with or on the cellulosic web (240). Alternatively, the cyclodextrin material can be included in a coating composition that is coated (210) on the surface or both surfaces of the cellulosic web (240) after web formation. Further, the cyclodextrin material can be included in a thermoplastic film that can be used as one layer in a bilayer or multilayer laminate containing a cellulosic web (240).
