    • A control apparatus of an electric power steering system has first to fourth calculators and an abnormality detector. The first calculator calculates an assist current command value, which corresponds to assist force for reducing steering force of the steering wheel, based on the steering torque of the steering wheel. The second to fourth calculators calculate a compensation current command value, which corresponds to compensation force for compensating for movement of the steering wheel, based on the angular velocity of the steering wheel that has been estimated based on the terminal-to-terminal voltage of the motor. The abnormality detector detects an abnormality of the terminal voltages of the motor. When the abnormality detector detects an abnormality, the second to fourth calculators substitute zero for the steering wheel angular velocity and then calculates the compensation current command value.

    • An apparatus for analyzing air/fuel ratio sensor characteristics makes it possible to perform highly accurate analysis of the characteristics of an air/fuel ratio sensor to be measured. The apparatus comprises a sensor attachment means in which is mounted an air/fuel ratio sensor to be measured; a gas regulation means for supplying to the sensor attachment means a gas that is substantially equivalent to components of exhaust gases from an engine, or some components thereof; a control means for comparing an output from the air/fuel ratio sensor to be measured mounted in the sensor attachment means and an output from a reference stoichiometric air/fuel ratio sensor at the stoichiometric air/fuel ratio of the engine, to obtain a deviation therebetween and to obtain from a history of this deviation over time the composition and flow rate of gases to be controlled to compensate for this deviation, and issuing appropriate instructions to the gas regulation means; and an air/ratio measurement means for measuring a time average of the thus controlled air/fuel ratio.

    • An automatic document feeder includes a document stacker for holding documents, a first conveyer for feeding the documents one sheet by one sheet to a platen glass for reading an image on a first side of the conveyed document, a second conveyor for conveying the conveyed document so that the conveyed document is turned over and conveyed to the platen glass again to read an image on the second side, and a discharger for discharging the conveyed document from the platen glass and returning the conveyed document to the document stacker. A third conveyer, located over the platen glass, conveys the conveyed document from at least one of the first conveyor and the second conveyer to the platen glass and conveys the conveyed document from the platen glass to at least one of the first conveyer, the second conveyer, and the discharger. A controller controls the movement of the conveyed document by the first, second, and third conveyers and the discharger, and a next conveyed document following the conveyed document is set to a waiting position on the platen glass when a second circulation is executed by the controller following a first circulation. The next conveyed document is then conveyed to the platen glass through the second conveyer after the second side of the conveyed document is read.
