    • In an image reading method, an image of an original document is read at a plurality of positions within one period in a manner that the focal position spaced a specific distance apart from the surface of the original document is periodically varied while being moved in the slow scan direction. The plurality of read positions during one period are synchronized every period. In-focus image data is detected from the image data read out during each period. Other image data than the detected in-focus image data during one period is replaced with the in-focus image data. Alternatively, blur of other image data than the detected in-focus image data during one period is corrected on the basis of the in-focus image data. An image reader based on the image reading method is also disclosed.

    • An electroluminescence device which has a short light emission decay time and high light emission efficiency and an electronic printing apparatus which can print at a high speed using the electroluminescence device. The electroluminescence device comprises an electroluminescence element for emitting light when an AC voltage is applied thereacross, heating means for heating the electroluminescence element, and controlling means for controlling the heating means so as to start operation of the heating means after completion of application of the AC voltage across the electroluminescence element. The electronic printing apparatus comprises such an electroluminescence device, a photosensitive member, and optical means for focusing light from the electroluminescence element upon the photosensitive member.

    • A multi-port semiconductor memory includes a memory cell array having a plurality of memory cells (10), a plurality of columns and rows, a write/read system, and at least one read system having sense amplifiers, each of the columns having a pair of data lines. Each of the sense amplifiers has first and second terminals connected to the pair of data lines and senses a voltage difference between the first and second terminals. The multi-port semiconductor memory also includes an address coincidence detection circuit which generates a control signal when a first address provided for writing write data into the memory cell array by the write/read system coincides with a second address provided for reading the write data by the read system. Further, the multi-port semiconductor memory includes a read control circuit which is provided in each of the sense amplifiers and which connects the first and second terminals of a corresponding one of the sense amplifies to the pair of data lines when the address coincidence detection circuit generates no control signal and which sets one of the first and second terminals to a predetermined voltage on the basis of the content of the write data while the other one of the first and second terminals is connected to a corresponding one of the pair of data lines.

Accordingly, the solubility and dispersibility of the additives is improved; the long-term stability of the additive dispersion is improved, and further and latent image storability and color-forming properties of the photographic material are also improved over the prior art photographic materials.
