    • PURPOSE:To separate and suck a powdery heat insulating material on the surface of the molten slag on a molten steel in a ladle and to recover the material in a reusable form by sucking said heat insulating material by an ejection type sucking machine. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the molten slag on the molten steel in the ladle is coated with the powdery heat insulaing material consisting essentially of SiO2 to insulate the temp. of the molten steel. A small amt. of the remaining molten steel 8 and the molten slag 7 thereon and further the powdery heat insulating material 6 which is as light as of about 1 specific gravity remain in the bottom of the ladle 11 in the stage of tapping the molten steel into a tundish from a sliding gate 12 in the bottom of the ladle. The top end of a suction pipe 3 of the ejector type sucking machine 1 is disposed above the material 6 apart at a specified space therefrom. High-velocity gaseous flow is ejected from an ejection nozzle 4 of the machine 1 into the pipe 2 and the material 6 is sucked by the negative pressure generated in the pipe. The sucked material is recovered through a recovering pipe 9 into a recovering vessel 10 such as bag filter and is reused as the heat insulating material.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the interface adhesion of a composite material and a base material by controlling an application quantity of an oxidation inhibitor applied to the surface of the composite material, and a casting speed, in an area shown by a specified expression. CONSTITUTION:A composite material 1 to which an oxidation inhibitor 4 has been applied in advance is suspended in the inside of a casting mold 2, and a base material molten metal 3 is charged by a bottom casting method. A relation of an application quantity (x) (gr/m2) of the oxidation inhibitor 4 which has been applied to the composite material 1, and a casting speed (y) (mm/min) is regulated and controlled within a range shown by an expression (I). The oxidation inhibitor 4 of the surface of the composite material 1 evaporates as soon as it contacts to the molten metal 3, purges a bubble gas cam 5 generated at this time and eliminates a bubble derived from others. Accordingly, contamination of an inclusion of a clad interface, or existence of a bubble is prevented. According to this method, the interface adhesion of the composite material 1 and the base material is improved.

    • PURPOSE:To produce a longitudinally short steel ingot having less hydrogen blownholes and good quality at a high yield by interposing a molten slab having an adequate thickness in the head part of the cast molten metal, holding the same with a holding material and solidifying unidirectionally the same upward from the base part. CONSTITUTION:Molten slag 6 having >=3mm. thickness and a holding material 5 such as a heat insulating flux or the like having meltability for preventing the solidification from the head part of a molten metal and further carbonized chaff 7 are successively packed atop the molten metal 3 in a casting mold constituted to prevent cooling and solidifying of the molten metal 3 from the side wall as far as possible by adhereing a heat insulating material 4 such as ceramic fibers or the like to the inside circumferential wall of a casting mold 2 placed on a molding board 1. The unidirectional solidification upward from the base part is thus caused in the molten metal 3 to prevent generation of a defect such as segregation as well as to prevent the hydrogen generated from the material 4 and the material 5 from entering the inside of the molten metal 3.

    • PURPOSE:To produce clad steel free from peeling of cladding materials and base material in good yields in the stage of producing a clad steel plate by cutting away the circumferential parts of cladding material slabs then coating heat resistant adhesive agents on the adhering lines of the cladding materials and the base materials and rolling both materials. CONSTITUTION:A clad steel ingot by insert casting is bloomed to a slab 4 consisting of cladding materials 2, 2 and base materials 3, 3 sandwiching a release material 1. The circumferential parts 5 of the slab 4 are cut away and the slab is separated to clad slabs 6, 7 from the material 1. In the stage of producing clad steel by rolling such clad slabs, heat resistant adhesive agents 12 are coated on the adhering lines 11 of the cladding materials and the base materials of the slabs 6, 7; thereafter, the slabs are heated to rolling temp. in a heating furnace and are rolled. The peeling of the cladding materials and base materials of the clad slabs in the peripheral parts of the adhered parts thereof is obviated, and the defective adhesion in the peripheral part of the clad steel is prevented by formation of oxide by the peeling.

    • PURPOSE: To omit a blooming process in order to directly roll a thick steel plate, and to improve the interior quality of the thick steel plate, by limiting the height of the poured molten steel in a low heat type ingot casting method.
      CONSTITUTION: A molten steel 5 is poured into a mold 2 whose inner wall surface is lined with a heat insulating material 3, to a ≤400mm height, and then, the upper surface of the poured molten steel 5 is covered with a heat insulating material 4. Hereby, the solidification of the molten steel 5 is caused artificially from the bottom to the upside in one way and an ingot is obtained with a horizontal cross section having a large short side as compared with the height. Then this ingot is soaked at a prescribed temperature, and is directly rolled into a thick plate without passing a blooming process; hereby, a clean thick plate having no segregation layer in its core is obtained.
