    • An adjustable single-pass A-V lead for cardiac pacing comprises a ventricular lead body with a ventricular electrode at its distal tip, and an atrial sheath slidably mounted over the ventricular lead body. An atrial electrode is located on a portion of the atrial sheath that is adapted to form an outwardly-extending atrial bow. A distal portion of the sheath is configured to resist sliding over the ventricular lead body so that the atrial bow is formed when a tubular, proximal portion of the sheath is advanced distally relative to the ventricular lead body. The longitudinal distance between the atrial and ventricular electrodes can be adjusted during implantation by withdrawing the sheath proximally relative to the ventricular lead body. The radial distance between the atrial electrode and the ventricular lead body can then be adjusted by advancing the proximal end of the sheath distally to form the atrial bow, and by manipulating the proximal end of the sheath to control the outward extension of the atrial bow. In an alternative embodiment, the non-tubular portion of the sheath is preformed in a curved configuration, so that the atrial bow forms automatically when a tensional force is released.

    • An implantable medical lead configured for improved MRI safety and heating reduction performance is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the lead includes a tubular body having a proximal end and a distal end with a lead connector near the proximal end. In this embodiment the lead further includes a conductor extending longitudinally within the tubular body and having a proximal end that is electrically coupled to the connector and a distal end electrically coupled to a contact pin. The lead in this embodiment further includes a filter element electrically coupled to a distal end of the contact pin and a flange electrically coupled between a proximal end of the filter element and a proximal portion of an electrode. In this embodiment the flange and the proximal portion of the electrode form at least a first part of a hermetic chamber enclosing the filter element.

    • The intrapericardial lead includes a lead body having a proximal portion and a flexible, pre-curved distal end portion. The distal end portion carries at least one electrode assembly containing an electrode adapted to engage pericardial tissue. The distal end portion further carries a pre-curved flexible wire member having ends attached to spaced apart points along the distal end portion of the lead body, the flexible wire member having a normally expanded state wherein an intermediate portion of the wire member is spaced apart from the distal end portion, and a generally straightened state wherein the wire member and the distal end portion are disposed in a more parallel, adjacent relationship so as to present a small frontal area to facilitate delivery into the pericardial space. The wire member re-expands to its normal state after delivery into the percaridal space to anchor the distal end portion of the lead body relative to the pericardial tissue.

    • An implantable single-pass cardiac stimulation lead provides for placement of electrodes into electrical contact with two chambers of a patient's heart. The lead includes an inner lead body having at least one electrode at its distal end and an outer lead body having at least one electrode at its distal end. The outer lead body has an internal lumen that slidingly receives the inner lead body. The inner lead body is extendable from the outer lead body at a point proximal to the distal end of the outer lead body. The sliding of the inner lead body relative to the outer lead body enables the inner lead body distal electrode to have a varying distance from the outer lead body distal electrode and enables the inner lead body to extend into the coronary sinus region of the heart to place the inner lead body electrode into electrical contact with the left ventricle.
