    • A pumping apparatus 10 for dispensing multiple component fluid material. The apparatus 10 includes at least first and second flexible tubes. The tubes each have an inlet and an outlet, and each of the inlets is supplied with a different component of the fluid material. A roller or rollers are provided for pressurized engagement with the tubes. The stop plate is engaged with the tubes at a location opposing the pressurized engagement of the roller. A driver mechanism independently moves the roller in pressurized engagement with the tubes, opposed by the stop plate, in a linear direction. Such linear movement carries the desired and variable amounts of fluid material to the tube outlets. An engagement frame supports the tubes, roller, stop plate and driver mechanism. A mixing reservoir is provided having multiple inlets, each of which is engaged with a flexible tube outlet, and a single outlet, such that the fluid material components are combined within the mixing reservoir and provided to the single outlet. A static mixer may also be provided which is supplied with mixed fluid material via the single outlet of the mixing reservoir for further mixing of the components of the fluid material.

    • A shuttle assembly for an injection molding machine is provided. The shuttle assembly includes a shuttle-support unit adapted to be attached to the machine frame and a shuttle-mold interfacing unit, slidably coupled to the support unit. Mold-coupling members are provided for removably coupling a first movable mold platen unit and a second mold platen unit to the shuttle-mold interfacing unit. During operation of the shuttle assembly, a shuttle-drive unit selectively reciprocally indexes the shuttle-mold interfacing unit in a preferably horizontal shuttle-travel path between (i) a first shuttle position whereat the first movable mold platen unit, when coupled thereto, is situated at a first unloading/loading position, and the second movable platen unit, when coupled thereto, is situated at a clamping position; and (ii) a second shuttle position where the first movable mold platen unit, when coupled thereto, is situated at a clamping position, and the second movable platen unit, when coupled thereto, is situated at a second unloading position. In the preferred embodiment, the first unloading position and the second unloading position are located on opposite sides of the clamping position.

    • An injection molding machine having a machine frame, an injection assembly coupled with the frame, a press assembly also coupled with the frame, a mold-mounting assembly coupled with the press assembly, and a mold pallet assembly secured to the press assembly by the mold mounting-assembly. The mold pallet assembly includes first and second mold pallet units which define a mold cavity when they are placed in a closed condition. The mold-mounting assembly includes first and second mold-mounting devices, securing the first and second mold pallet units, respectively, to the press assembly. The mold-mounting assembly further includes a sensor which indicates the correct alignment of the mold pallet assembly relative to the press assembly. The press assembly moves the first and second mold pallet units between a closed condition and an open condition in which they are separated from each other. Movement of the first mold pallet unit by the press assembly engages the unit with the injection assembly.

    • A machine from which a customer can selectably purchase or rent a videocassette or other such product, e.g., blank videotapes, music disks, and the like, or return a previously rented videocassette. The machine comprises videocassette storage device for storing a plurality of videocassettes or other such products in discrete, identifiable locations. A customer identification device receives information about the customer. Mode selection device enables the customer to select among a vend mode, a rent mode and a return mode, and videocassette selection device enables the customer to select a desired videocassette to be vended or rented. Customer access device is provided for dispensing the selected videocassette to the customer in the vend and rent modes and receiving the videocassette from the customer in the return mode. Videocassette identification device receives information representative of the identity of the videocassette and its travel case being returned in the return mode. The videocassette is accepted for return only when its travel case has been identified as having originated from that particular machine. Videocassette transport device is provided for transporting the selected videocassette from the storage device to the customer access device in the vend and rent modes and transporting the videocassette which has been identified as being rented from that particular machine from the customer access device to the first closest available empty discrete location in the storage device in the return mode. If the videocassette is not identified, it will be placed with its travel case in a storage area within the machine to prevent its further re-rental. Memory device stores information about the customer, the selected mode, the selected videocassette, and the coordinates of videocassettes and available empty discrete locations in the storage device.

    • A system for measuring the course length of a well bore uses a probe containing accelerometers to generate a first output signal indicative of the time rate of change of the probe's velocity as it travels through the bore. The probe also contains two casing collar locators separated by a measured distance. A microcomputer in the probe integrates the first output signal twice with respect to time to generate a course length value indicating the total distance travelled by the probe. The microcomputer also calculates a computed distance value by integrating the first output signal twice with respect to time over the time interval between the generation of first and second joint-indicative signals as a result of the successive passage of one pipe joint by the two casing collar locators. The computed distance value is compared by the microcomputer with a stored distance value representing the measured distance between the casing collar locators. From this comparison, a distance error signal is generated and applied as a correction factor to the course length value. In addition, a first acceleration value is calculated using the computed distance value and the joint-indicative signal time interval, and a second acceleration value is calculated using the stored distance value and the same time interval. The first and second acceleration values are compared to yield an acceleration error signal which is applied to the accelerometers for real-time recalibration.

    • A tire building apparatus is provided having an improved mechanism for turning up the plies of the tire carcass and wrapping them around each tire bead ring. The mechanism is designed so that it can also be used to apply the sidewall pads to the expanded carcass of a radial tire. The improved mechanism includes a bladder that has a molded conical portion in its outer fold adjacent the building drum. This conical portion extends very close to the bead ring positioned adjacent the carcass at the sides of the drum shoulders. The improved mechanism also includes a control ring insert placed inside said bladder and radially inwardly from the conical portion of the outer bladder fold. When the bladder is inflated to wrap the carcass plies around the bead ring, the control ring insert and the molded conical portion of the outer bladder fold combine to provide an improved, tighter wrapping of the carcass plies around the bead ring. They also provide a smoother, more accurate positioning of a sidewall pad to an expanded radial tire carcass when the mechanism is employed for that purpose. There is also provided a method and apparatus for molding a bladder having a conical portion in its outer fold.
