    • Systems and methods are provided that enable high-performance Internet access on board moving vehicles. In an illustrative implementation, an exemplary wireless data communications environment comprises a PluriBus module, an instruction set comprising at least one instruction set to process data for wireless communication between a cooperating component onboard a moving vehicle and other cooperating wireless components, and one or more multiple wide-area wireless communications links. In an illustrative operation, the PluriBus module can perform one more wireless communications techniques comprising opportunistic erasure coding such that coded packets can be sent in the event that there are openings in the one or more wireless communication links' capacity and transmitting the data packets along the one or more wireless communications links that is estimated (e.g., in real time) to offer efficient delivery of data packets.

    • A new system and method of available bandwidth estimation applies even where the narrow link and tight link in a network path are in different locations. In embodiments of the invention, a unique packet probe series structure and processing is employed to estimate available bandwidth. In an embodiment of the invention, the spacing between probe packets is adjusted at the source to account for dilation caused by links leading to the tight link, so that the spacing is appropriate when the probes arrive at the tight link. Moreover, the multi-packet probe comprises a large packet followed by two much smaller packets. The large packet is then dropped once it has traversed the tight link. The two small packets, which are impacted little by subsequent narrow links, preserve the spacing set by the tight link, encoding the delay induced by the tight link, all the way to the destination.

    • The deep application crawling technique described herein crawls one or more applications, commonly referred to as “apps”, in order to extract information inside of them. This can involve crawling and extracting static data that are embedded within apps or resource files that are associated with the apps. The technique can also crawl and extract dynamic data that apps download from the Internet or display to the user on demand, in order to extract data. This extracted static and/or data can then be used by another application or an engine to perform various functions. For example, the technique can use the extracted data to provide search results in response to a user query entered into a search engine. Alternately, the extracted static and/or dynamic data can be used by an advertisement engine to select application-specific advertisements. Or the data can be used by a recommendation engine to make recommendations for goods/services.
