    • The present invention provides a magnetic brush developing apparatus for developing latent electrostatic images with a particulate magnetic developer which comprises:(a) a rotatable non-magnetic developing sleeve,(b) first drive means connected to said sleeve for rotating said developing sleeve in a specified direction,(c) a magnetic roller rotatably disposed within the developing sleeve,(d) second drive means connected to said magnetic roller for rotating the magnetic roller in the same direction as the developing sleeve to transport said magnetic developer along the peripheral surface of the developing sleeve in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the developing sleeve,(e) a brush bristle height adjusting plate member having one end in pressing contact with the peripheral surface of said sleeve and a developer guide surface at an acute angle with respect to a tangent to said sleeve, said tangent extending in the direction of rotation of said sleeve, for scraping developer particles moving in the direction of rotation of said sleeve, from said sleeve and(f) a developer supplying means for supplying developer particles, through said developer guide surface of said brush bristle height adjusting plate member, to the peripheral surface of said sleeve to form bristle thereon; and whereby the length of the magnetic brush bristles formed by application of the developer particles to said sleeve can be controlled by adjusting the relative rate of rotation of said magnetic roller with respect to said sleeve.

    • An electrophotographic copying apparatus which includes a thin sheet original transporting device having transporting rollers and disposed adjacent to a transparent platform for holding thick originals at the upper portion of the copying apparatus, and an image forming optical system moving device for moving the optical system from a scanning starting position for thick original copying to a stationary optical system position for thin sheet original copying in association with a change-over of operation from copying a thick original to copying a thin sheet original in order to eliminate disadvantages inherent in exposures in conventional copying apparatuses, and the distance between first and second reflecting mirrors of the optical system at the scanning starting position for copying thick originals is set to be less than that when the optical system is in the stationary position for reduction of the size of the copying apparatus.

    • A slit exposure type electrostatic copying apparatus having a photoreceptor surface wound on a rotatory drum movable along a path relative to a plurality of actuable processing stations disposed along the path and wherein the circumference of the photoreceptor drum is made slightly longer than the length of the maximum sized original with the diameter of the drum minimized to such an extent as to be sufficient to perform efficient copying. The machine is equipped with an automatic copy paper feeding mechanism from a roll of paper which can be switched over to a manual insertion by a simple operation, and is also provided with a supplementary light source so as to erase unnecessary charge on the non-latent image formed portion of the photoreceptor surface for better performance and prolonged life of the photoreceptor.
