    • A method and system for relaying a file object used in a gateway computer allowing the change of various parameters settings, dependent on particular networks, in a simple manner. The method and system further allowing reference of a file object referred to when a client computer was first connected to a certain network even when the client computer is then connected to another network in a simple manner. The method and system provides for relaying a file object in accordance with any of a plurality of control structures corresponding to a plurality of networks, respectively. The gateway computer includes storage for storing a file object. Each of the plurality control structures has an address of a representative gateway computer to which a client computer is connected. The method of relaying the file object includes the steps of receiving an event, when the event is a request for switching between the control structures, switching various parameters in accordance with that one of the control structures to which switching is requested, when the event is a request for getting the file object transmitted by the client computer, reading and relaying to the client computer the file object from either one of an upstream computer and the storage, and storing the relayed file object in the storage.

    • A cylindrical roller bearing includes a plurality of cylindrical rollers disposed between a circular outer race and a circular inner race without using a retainer. The inner and outer races are devoid of annular flanges extending radially from opposite axial ends of the races for controlling the position of the cylindrical rollers in an axial direction. A pair of thrust bearing plates are disposed on the opposite sides of the outer race for controlling the positions of the outer race and the cylindrical rollers in the axial direction. One or more of the cylindrical rollers are formed shorter than the other cylindrical rollers. With this arrangement, a skew of one or more of the cylindrical rollers, which may occur when the outer race is subjected to an axial load, is taken up by circumferential gaps formed between the shorter cylindrical roller and adjacent cylindrical rollers at opposite ends of the shorter cylindrical roller. Thus, rotation of the outer race is stable and abrasion between the end faces of the cylindrical rollers and the thrust bearing plates can be suppressed.

    • A cantilever shaft assembly includes a steel pipe firmly secured at one end to a wall surface of a stationary support member, and a core shaft made from a synthetic resin and having a body portion removably fitted in the steel pipe and an end portion located outside the steel pipe. The end portion forms a free end of the cantilever shaft assembly and rotatably supports thereon a rotating member such as a driven sprocket. The core shaft and the steel pipe are locked and held together by a locking device such as a pin or a key. The cantilever shaft assembly is light in weight and can be easily repaired at a low cost when the end portion of tne synthetic resin core shaft is damaged or worn out.
