    • PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of thickness of the rolled material in the direction of breadth, by installing the intermediate rolls being divided into plural sections so as to be individually freely movable in the direction of axis, between the backup roll and respective upper and lower work rolls. CONSTITUTION:For instance, when the breadth of the rolled material 12 is comparable to the length of rolls of the work rolls 13a, 13b, the outermost intermediate rolls 21a, 21b, 21a', 21b', are respectively moved in the direction of axis, so as to make the distance between the left end of the outermost intermediate rolls 21a, 21b, and the right end of the outermost intermediate rolls 21a', 21b', to be corresponding to the breadth of the material 12. When the breadth of the material 12 is approximately equal to the sum of length of rolls of the intermediate rolls, the outermost rolls are all shifted so as to contact with the middle rolls 20a, 20b, and then the rolling work is proceeded. When the breadth of the material 12 is shorter than the sum of length of rolls of the intermediate rolls, the middle rolls 20a, 20b, are combined with either one of the outermost rolls, or only the middle rolls 20a, 20b, are assigned to the rolling work.

    • PURPOSE:To accurately set the position of a roll chock and to simplify the structure of a work roll cross mill. CONSTITUTION:Each of upper and lower cross heads is attracted to a rod 4 by each pull back cylinder 11 with a rod part 12 fixed to the cross head 3. One side rod 4 of either of the inlet side or the outlet side of a rolled stock 50 is pushed out and the other side rod 4 is pulled by each of upper and lower screw jacks 5. One side cross head is pushed by this one side rod 4, the other side cross head is pulled by a pull back cylinder 11 to ward the other side rod 4, the upper and lower cross heads are moved in the opposite direction to each other, and while pads 7 are tilted and slid on both sides of the respective work roll chocks, the upper and lower work roll chocks and the upper and lower work rolls are rotated around cross point O by a prescribed cross angle theta in the direction to be the upper side opposite the lower side, respectively.
