    • An apparatus for fusing images to a sheet. A fuser device is provided using a transparent fusing roll having an internal heating device which focuses the energy to a narrow area of the roll adjacent the nip formed with a pressure roll. A transparent fuser roll is used in a pressure nip fusing system to take advantage of the quick response of a focused lamp system while at the same time yielding the desirable image quality attributes of the pressure nip in two roll fusing. The focused lamp is completely enclosed and the heated region of the paper is within the nip contact region so there exists no possibility of igniting the paper. A lateral temperature smoothing device, or leveling roll, is also provided to maintain a fairly uniform temperature axially across the fuser roll. This is particularly useful for a wide fuser roll, i.e., 17 inches, through which narrower paper, i.e., 11 or 14 inches, is passing to prevent the ends of the fuser roll which do not contact the paper from overheating. A quick start up from cold start is possible so that no standby power is required.

    • A method of reusing a sheet includes receiving a sheet having a printed image, scanning a new image, determining whether the sheet is acceptable for reuse, covering at least one portion of the printed image on the sheet with a white-out toner via a white-out unit, fusing the white-out toner to the at least one portion of the sheet, printing a new image onto the sheet, and performing the receiving, scanning, determining, covering, fusing and printing operations on the sheet a plurality of times. A printing device for covering and printing over a printed image includes a receiving subsystem configured to receive a sheet, a processing module configured to determine whether the sheet is acceptable for reuse, and a fuser module configured to fuse a white-out toner.

    • An embodiment is a method and apparatus to meter ink for electrographic printing. An ink loading mechanism having an anilox roller fills ink from an ink supply into cells in the anilox roller having a plurality of valleys and lands that form the cells. The ink loading mechanism causes the valleys to be full or nearly full with the ink. The anilox roller rotates in a first direction. A blanket roller rotationally engaged with the anilox roller pulls the ink out of the cells and causes the valleys to be partially filled. The blanket roller rotates in a second direction. A first cleaning blade cleans tops of the lands of the cells.Another embodiment is a method and apparatus to meter ink for electrographic printing. An ink loading mechanism having an anilox roller fills ink from an ink supply into cells in the anilox roller having a plurality of valleys and lands forming the cells. The ink loading mechanism causes the valleys to be full or nearly full with the ink. The anilox roller rotates in a first direction. A soft blade positioned slightly below surface of the lands removes ink from the cells and causes the valleys the partially filled as the anilox roller rotates. A hard blade positioned at the surface of the lands to clean residue of ink on the surface of the lands as the anilox roller rotates.

    • A ferromagnetic layer is bonded to, or coated on, or in other manner applied to, the surface of a heatable fuser member for fusing dry toner in an image forming device. The ferromagnetic layer promotes inductive heating of the heatable fuser member based on high hysteresis loss exhibited when the ferromagnetic layer is exposed to a magnetic field created by the current flowing through an induction coil or other like device. Suitable materials for the ferromagnetic layer are those which exhibit a high coupling efficiency to the imposed magnetic field. A result is substantially controllable, consistent heating of the heatable fuser member to fuse dry toner onto or into the image bearing surface of an image receiving medium.
