    • The present invention is directed to a method for increasing the operational lifetime of a flash memory device, wherein, the method comprises varying the operating parameters of the flash memory device over the lifetime of the flash memory device. The advantage of providing a method which varies the operating parameters of a flash memory device is that the operational lifetime of the flash memory device will be increased. Relatively low voltages and relatively short voltage periods may be used initially to write to, read from and erase the flash cells in the flash memory device. As time passes, the flash cells in the flash memory device will begin to degrade and it will be necessary to increase the voltage and the period of the voltage applied to the flash memory device in order to ensure that the correct write, read and/or erase commands are carried out. The invention is also directed towards a flash memory device.

    • Anchored conversations are maintained by a conversation coordinator that retrieves an anchor position from an artifact and maintains a position of a conversation client relative to the retrieved anchor position. The conversations are synchronous and asynchronous communications. The anchors, and hence the conversations may be moved within the artifact or to other artifacts. The conversation clients include detach and re-attach buttons that allow a conversation to be detached and reattached from/to a corresponding anchor. The conversation coordinator manages conversations anchored in any number of different applications. Each conversation is accessible either by invoking an associated anchor within a corresponding artifact (embodied as an ActiveX control, for example), or via the conversation coordinator. A database is connected to each conversation and is a silent participant maintaining a record of the conversation and any metadata regarding the conversation. The database is available for query by a user and/or the conversation coordinator.

    • An electrical receptacle shield in the form of a thin sheet metal stamping for temporarily covering the front opening of a utility receptacle. The receptacle has free front edges that define a front profile having an inner perimeter. The shield has an outer peripheral section in an anterior plane, an inner section in a posterior plane, and an intermediate section that slopes between the inner section and the peripheral section. The peripheral and intermediate sections have a plurality of gaps with a plurality of catches extend outwardly through the gaps. The catches extend outwardly to the inner perimeter of the front edges. The shield is pressed into the receptacle opening, held in position by the catches, and pried out when no longer needed.
