    • A forceps includes an end effector assembly including first and second jaw members. One or both of the jaw members is moveable relative to the other between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position for grasping tissue therebetween. One or both of the jaw members includes a jaw frame including an engagement recess defined on each lateral side thereof and a replaceable component configured for slidable positioning about the jaw frame. The replaceable component includes an outer jaw housing having an engagement tang disposed on each lateral side thereof. The engagement tangs are configured to engage the engagement recesses of the jaw frame upon slidable positioning of the replaceable component about the jaw frame to secure the replaceable component to the jaw frame. The replaceable component includes an electrically conductive tissue sealing plate engaged to the outer jaw housing to define a tissue sealing surface.

    • A surgical instrument includes a handle and an elongated shaft that defines a longitudinal axis. An end effector extends from the elongated shaft and defines an end effector axis. The elongated shaft includes an articulating portion that both pivotally and rotationally movable with respect to the longitudinal axis. The end effector is rotationally movable with respect to the end effector axis. A drive mechanism includes at least one actuator disposed on the handle that is operable to move the end effector in at least three independent modes relative to the longitudinal axis or the end effector axis. The three modes include an articulation mode wherein the articulating portion of the elongated shaft pivots relative to the longitudinal axis, a shoulder roll mode wherein the articulating portion of the elongated shaft rotates about the longitudinal axis, and a wrist roll mode wherein the end effector rotates about the end effector axis.

    • The present disclosure relates to an end effector assembly for use with a forceps. The end effector assembly includes a pair of jaw members and a cutting element. The pair of jaw members having at least one jaw member that is moveable relative to the other from a first, open position to a second, closed position for grasping tissue. Each of the jaw members includes a cutting channel that is defined therein and extends therealong. The cutting element includes a fixed end and a movable end. The fixed end is disposed within the cutting channel of one of the jaw members and the moveable end is disposed within the cutting channel of the other of the jaw member. The cutting element defines a movable cutting loop disposed between the cutting channels and between the fixed end and the movable end. The cutting loop has an arcuate portion that is reciprocatable to cut tissue.
