CONSTITUTION:The circuit consists of a contour compensation circuit 2 compensating the resolution, a movement detection circuit 1 and a compensation characteristic decision circuit 3, the video signal input of the circuit is branched into two, one is given to the movement detection circuit 1 and the other is inputted to the contour compensation circuit 2. The movement detection circuit 1 detects the movement of the object from the inputted signal, decides the area for resolution compensation and the compensation characteristic decision circuit 3 applies the correction signal giving a high resolution to the area decided by the movement detection circuit 1 to the circuit 2. On the other hand, a correction signal to reduce the correction quantity is supplied to the still section. Thus, a video signal is obtained at the output terminal of the contour compensation circuit 2 with high resolution with respect to the moving object and without increased noise for the still section.

Thus, other chrominance components are impervious to be mixed and the occurrence of line crawl can be prevented.

    • PURPOSE: To enable vertical smear correction ample for the movements of camera and/or the objects by detecting the vertical smear component within 1H duration provided with an interval of plural horizontal scan durations and correct successively the vertical smear components of the screen during said plural horizontal scan durations by the detected components.
      CONSTITUTION: The scanning of a solid-state image pickup element 11 starts at the first transition of vertical blanking pulses, for instance, at every 13 H the vertical clock pulse is masked and the output of vertical shift register is stopped. As a result, the element 11 gives out a signal that includes the vertical smear durations only. This signal is amplified, AD converted, and transffered to a switch 14. Meanwhile, the signal component is led to a subtraction circuit 16, where differences to the output signal from the memory circuit 15 is taken and the vertical smear component included in the signal is removed.
