    • A process is disclosed for producing stable foam regulator compositions which during the production of particulate washing and cleaning agents withstand the mixing process with the remaining constitutive elements of the washing or cleaning agents without loosing their granulated structure and without dusting, but which nevertheless are quickly dissolved, without leaving any residues, in the conditions of use, releasing the foam-inhibiting combination of active substances, which in particular include a low melting paraffin. For this purpose, a progressive granulation process is carried out in a granulation mixer, in that 50 to 100 parts by weight of an inorganic carrier salt, optionally with up to 5 parts by weight of an anionic and/or non-ionic cellulose ethers are intensively mixed, 1 to 10 parts by weight of an aqueous alkali silicate and/or polymer polycarboxylate solution are added while granulation is pursued, and finally 10 parts by weight of a an antifoaming combination of active substances heated up to a temperature in the 70 DEG C to 180 DEG C range is added.

    • Even high-grade textiles like silk, viscose or wool can be carefully washed by machine by the use of a foaming powdered to granular washing agent with an apparent density of 300 to 1000 g/l, containing one or more highly foaming tensides, especially alkyl glycosides and/or low-ethoxylated alkyl ether sulphates in quantities such that, when used in a concentration of 2.5 to 8 g/l at washing temperatures of 60 DEG C at most, the agent forms a foam which, measured by the SSF method, meets the stability critera: (1) no holes occur in the foam column with samples in the useful concentration range from 2.5 to 8 g/l (water hardness 16 DEG d, temperature 16 DEG C); (ii) the foam column has a height of at least 30 cm and at the most 40 cm after 120 seconds' foaming time; (iii) the theoretical foam height after the application of a 50 g weight is no less than 28 cm, where the difference between the maximum foam height a fter 120 seconds and the theoretical foam height is less than 4.3 cm, and/or (iv) the drop in the foam height per unit time after the application of the weight is less than 2 cm per minute.
