    • A method for wireless communication between stations of differing protocols begins by determining whether protocols of target stations of a wireless communication are different than a protocol of a source station. The method continues by, when at least one of the target stations has a different protocol than the protocol of the source station, determining whether the wireless communication is a direct wireless communication or an indirect wireless communication. The method continues with the source station transmitting a frame to an access point, wherein the frame is formatted in accordance with the protocol of the source station, when the wireless communication is the indirect wireless communication. The method continues with the access point converting the frame into at least one alternate frame based on the protocol of the at least one of the target stations having the different protocol. The method continues with the access point transmitting the at least one alternate frame to the at least one of the target stations.

    • A radio frequency transmitter includes a digital baseband and coding module, an inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) module, a complex digital filter, a complex digital-to-analog converter and a radio frequency modulation module. The digital baseband and coding module is operably coupled to convert outbound data into outbound symbols in accordance with a baseband encoding protocol. The IFFT module is operably coupled to convert the outbound symbols into a complex time domain sample sequence. The complex digital filter is operably coupled to filter the complex time domain sequence such that signal strength of outbound RF signals in an exclusion RF band is at or below a specified signal strength with negligible attenuation on in-band signal strength.

An embodiment of the present invention may adjust for manufacturing process, power supply voltage, and ambient temperature variations by periodically calibrating the measurement of receive signal strength in a RF communication device, using the transmitter of the device. Various embodiments of the present invention may use a look-up table to convert unadjusted receive signal strength values to adjusted receive signal strength values, may adjust the operation of the circuitry generating an indication of receive signal strength, and may adjust thresholds in executable code used to manage the operation of the radio frequency communication system.

    • A single chip radio transceiver includes circuitry that enables detection of radar signals to enable the radio transceiver to halt communications in overlapping communication bands to avoid interference with the radar transmitting the radar pulses. One design goal, however, is to avoid false triggers that result from spurious tones and omissions and that further detects radar signals even in circumstances in which a radar pulse has been masked or eliminated by interference. Accordingly, the radar detection block includes circuitry for detecting and measuring the radar signals in the presence of such interference. More specifically, the radar detection block includes a moving average filter, a threshold comparison state machine, and radar detection logic within software that is executed by a processor for determining whether a radar signal is present.
