    • A deployment server can include a profile data store, a generic application data store, and an optimizer. The profile data store can contain a plurality of attributes for devices and associate different optimization parameters or optimization routines to each of the stored attributes. The generic application data store can contain at least one generic application written in a device independent fashion. The optimizer can receive application requests from an assortment of different requesting devices and can dynamically generate device-specific applications responsive to received requests. For each requesting device, the optimizer can determine attributes of a requesting device, utilize the profile data store to identify optimization parameters or optimization routines for the requesting device, and generate a device-specific application based upon data from the profile data store and based upon a generic application retrieved from the generic application data store.

    • A method and apparatus for concurrently accessing network-based electronic content in a Voice Browser and a Visual Browser can include the steps of retrieving a network-based document formatted for display in the Visual Browser; identifying in the retrieved document a reference to the Voice Browser, the reference specifying electronic content formatted for audible presentation in the Voice Browser; and, transmitting the reference to the Voice Browser. The Voice Browser can retrieve the specified electronic content and audibly present the electronic content. Concurrently, the Visual Browser can visually present the network-based document formatted for visual presentation in the Visual Browser. Likewise, the method of the invention can include the steps of retrieving a network-based document formatted for audible presentation in the Voice Browser; identifying in the retrieved document a reference to the Visual Browser, the reference specifying electronic content formatted for visual presentation in the Visual Browser; and, transmitting the reference to the Visual Browser. The Visual Browser can retrieve the specified electronic content and visually present the specified electronic content.     • A method of generating a speech recognition grammar for use with a speech recognition system can include parsing the corpus of data to identify grammatical structures within the corpus of data. The identified grammatical structures can be compared with grammar generation rules to determine particular ones of the identified grammatical structures to include within the speech recognition grammar. The grammar generation rules can designate which grammatical structures are to be included within the speech recognition grammar. The grammatical structures which have been identified in the parsing step and which also have been designated by the grammar generation rules can be included in the speech recognition grammar.

    • A method for voice data entry availability in a voice response system can include receiving speech input specifying data in an audio user interface to a data information system for processing data in a data store. The speech input can be received through an audio user interface to the data information system. Subsequently, speech-to-text conversion of the speech input can be performed using a speech recognition engine with reference to a corresponding speech grammar. In particular, the speech grammar can contain a data set of words relating to the data information system. Notably, the data store can contain a subset of the data set, the subset having words which can be processed by the data information system, the subset not having words which cannot be processed by the data information system. If the specified data is included in the speech grammar and if the specified data is in the data store, the speech data in the speech query can be processed. However, if the specified data is not in the data store, it can be reported that the specified data cannot be processed. Finally, if the specified data is not included in the speech grammar, an Out-Of-Grammar (OOG) condition can be reported. Additionally, the speech data in the speech query is not processed.

    • The invention is a remote temperature control system. The remote temperature control system contains temperature sensors, which are remotely placed in zones of temperature regulation throughout an area to be heated or cooled. A thermostat is then placed outside the zones of temperature regulation and communicates with the temperature sensors. Based on the information received from the temperature sensors, the thermostat then sends commands to a temperature control source to regulate the temperature of the various zones of temperature regulation. Placing the temperature sensors in remote locations and having the thermostat outside these remote locations allows the remote temperature remote control system to more accurately control the temperatures in those remote locations.
