摘要： When a memory read and a facsimile transmission operation are concurrently performed, first it is determined in the memory read operation whether a converting block is available based on the state of an in-use flag. If the converting block is unavailable, namely the converting block is in use by the facsimile transmission operation, the memory read operation goes in a standby state. When the converting block is available, namely the in-use flag is reset on the facsimile transmission operation side, the in-use flag is set indicating that the converting block is in use by the memory read operation. Then, one line of document data is coded and stored in an accumulated memory. Next, after the in-use flag is reset, the above-mentioned process is repeated until all of the document data has been coded. This allows the converting block to be alternately used by the memory read and the facsimile transmission operations.

摘要： An image forming apparatus has a thermal fixing unit which includes a heater to thermally fix an image on a recording medium. The temperature in the apparatus goes down when a replaceable unit is exchanged. A temperature sensor detects the reduction in temperature. A status sensor detects an exchanging state in which the replaceable unit is exchanged and outputs a detection signal indicating the exchanging state. A CPU judges that the heater is properly operating even if the temperature signal indicates the reduction in temperature when the detection signal is outputted.

摘要： An image recording apparatus for recording an image of an original on a developer sheet with the use of a microcapsule, in which the developer sheet and the microcapsule sheet having a surface coated with immense number of photosensitive and pressure-rupturable microcapsules are subjected to pressure development by a pair of pressurizing rollers. To ensure that the pressure development is performed under the condition where the developer sheet and the microcapsule sheet are superposed one on the other, the nip and retract timings of the pressurizing rollers are determined properly according to the present invention. For example, the developer sheet is conveyed at a speed asynchronous with the microcapsule conveying speed and the conveyance of the developer sheet is stopped after its leading edge is introduced between the rollers held in spaced apart condition. The rollers are brought to the nip position to thereby start the pressure development when the exposure start line on the microcapsule sheet is in alignment with the leading end of the developer sheet. The retract timing is determined, for example, depending upon the size of the developer sheet.

摘要： In a facsimile device, a CPU determines whether or not a recording sheet is conveyed normally based on the conveyance state detected by a detecting portion. When the CPU determines that the recording sheet has been conveyed normally, the CPU increases the conveying speed in a stepwise manner based on the current conveying speed until the conveying speed reaches maximum speed. Therefore, according to the present facsimile device, when conveyance of the recording sheet is normally performed at a specified conveying speed, the number of failures of conveyance of the recording sheet can be reduced compared to a facsimile device, in which the conveying speed is set at maximum speed of conveyance by a sheet feed roller. Also, the recording sheet can be conveyed at as high speed as possible.
