    • 1392878 Delivering measured quantities of liquid BOEHRINGER MANNHEIM GmbH 16 June 1972 [18 June 1971] 28229/72 Heading B8N [Also in Division G1] A device for introduction of a predetermined amount of air-bubble-free sample solution into a flowing stream of liquid without altering the velocity of flow comprises casing 10 having inlet bores 13a, 12a for the flowing stream from a common feed line (12, Fig. 4, not shown), bore 21 for introduction of sample and bore 20 for introduction of air, and outlet bores 15a, 14a for the flowing stream and 16a for application of vacuum, and core 11 longitudinally slidable in casing 10 and having bores 17, 18, 19, the arrangement of the bores being such that in use of the device with the core as shown and a stream of liquid flowing through 13a, 17, 15a, sample is placed in opening 21 by pouring it in, by dipping the bore opening into sample or by opening it to a container of sample, then the core is moved to connect 12a, 18, 14a when the sample is carried out of bores 18, 14a by the flow of liquid and simultaneously any sample remaining in 21 is sucked away through 19, 16a, the core is moved to connect 20, 18, 16a when liquid remaining in bore 18 is removed and the liquid stream can again flow in 13a, 17, 15a, then the core is returned to its original position which is as shown.
