摘要： 3300. Baker, F., and Baker, M. F. Feb. 9. Reels, rod. - Means are provided for allowing the ordinary winding-on movement of the reel and for frictionally retarding the winding- off movement. The stationary frame a carries a pawl g which rides over the ratchetwheel f in the winding- on direction and holds the ratchet f and sleeve e stationary in the winding-off direction. A rubber collar h interposed between the shoulders of the sleeve e and the reel b provides the required friction.

Scrubbers a n d washers.-The a i r from the neighbourhood of a grindstone, emery grinder, or other grinding, polishing, or cutting machine is drawn off, washed to remove dust and recover valuable substances, such as gold and silver dust, and returned to the grinding room or delivered elsewhere. From the grindstone a shoot 4 leads to a shaft 9, at the bottom of which rotates a wheel 8 provided with spoon-shaped paddles which throw water up the shaft 9 in the form of spray, which in settling carries down the dust from the shoot 4. Air is drawn down the shoot 4 and up the shaft 9 by a fan. The fan and the wheel 8 are connected to the grindstone so that all three are put in motion together. The settling-tank 7 is placed on a stool 12, so that the latter can be drawn away and the tank removed without disturbing the apparatus.

摘要： 12,366. Baker, F. June 14. Banjoes.-The body is provided with an internal openwork diaphragm 12 placed in the position shown in Fig. 5, and made in one with the body if the latter is of metal. The neck is of metal, T - shaped in cross - section and provided with strengthening-ribs running diagonally across it at short intervals. The strings 18 are pressed downwards upon the bridge by a bar 17 carried on resilient arms 15 which are screwed to the body. The vellum is stretched by screws 19 and nuts 21 ; the nuts are rounded at their outer surfaces and are shaped inside to fit against the body. The nuts engage with brackets 20, which project from the body, and which are undercut as shown at 22 so as to keep the nuts close against the body. 23 is a leg-rest which folds inside the body when not in use. A leg-rest which can be attached to the body by clips is also shown.
