    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk which can exhibit a sufficient mask effect even in recording and in reproducing. SOLUTION: This optical disk is formed by laminating layers 6 for recording and reproducing information and mask layers 12 having a mask effect to increase light transmittance when the intensity of irradiation light increases. The diameter of the light spot transmitted through the mask layers is made substantially smaller than the diameter of the light spot incident on the mask layers 12 and the layers for recording and reproducing the information are irradiated with the light. The mask layers consist of a low-sensitivity mask film 12B having low sensitivity, a high-sensitivity mask film 12A having high sensitivity and an isolation film 14 interposed between these two mask films for preventing the mixing of the materials of these two mask films. As a result, the sufficient mask effect may be exhibited in recording and reproducing.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive optical disk recording/reproducing device stably performing focusing, tracking servo for recording/reproducing an optical disk having a mask layer. SOLUTION: This optical disk recording/reproducing device is provided with two optical system 12, 14 emitting a first wavelength irradiation beam L1 and a second wavelength irradiation beam L2. The irradiation beam can record/ reproduce the existing optical disk. This device can perform recording/ reproducing on the optical disk with the mask layer formed by laminating a recording layer recording/reproducing information and the mask layer in which temperature rises and light transmittance also rises by intensifying the irradiation beam, and the light spot of the irradiation beam transmitting through the mask layer is reduced substantially than the light spot size of the irradiation beam made incident on the mask layer. When the optical disk is used, the information is recorded/reproduced with the first wavelength irradiation beam which changes the light transmittance of the mask layer, and one of a focus servo signal and a tracking signal is obtained wit the second wavelength irradiation beam which causes a smaller change of the light transmittance of the mask layer.

    • PURPOSE:To make spin coating applicable and to prevent lowering of recording density by forming a recording layer and a first reflective layer in a recordable area and a dedicated reproduction area, respectively, and then forming a second reflective layer continuously on the recording layer and the dedicated reproduction layer. CONSTITUTION:A dedicated reproduction area and a recordable area are provided on same surface of an optical information recording medium and a recording layer 2 is formed only in the recordable area whereas a first reflective layer 3 is formed only in the dedicated reproduction area. Furthermore, a second reflective layer 4 is formed of a material different from that of the first reflective layer 3 continuously on the recording layer 2 and the dedicated reproduction area including the dedicated reproduction area and the recordable area, followed by formation of a protective layer 5 on the second reflective layer 4 thus constituting an optical information recording medium. According to the method, highly productive spin coating can be applied, border between pit part and empty groove part can be clarified and the recording density can be prevented from lowering.
