摘要： An apparatus and method for renewal-based resource allocation in a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system are provided. A Base Station (BS) allocates resources to a Mobile Station (MS) by resource allocation information. It is determined whether the MS requires continuous resource allocation or whether the MS does not have transmission data temporarily, when a resource allocation duration for downlink resources allocated to the MS has expired. One of resource allocation termination, resource allocation renewal, and temporary resource lending to another MS is performed according to the determination. Information for updating the resource allocation information is transmitted to the MS.

A handoff to a target cell for a terminal is performed by considering a handoff probability as well as resource prices in current and target cells. In cells configuring the heterogeneous network, optimal resource price for each service is computed on the basis of demand and supply resources. An arrived call from the terminal is processed using the computed resource price.

Herein, the uplink bandwidth allocation requests occur in an MS according to services. Accordingly, as the uplink bandwidth allocation requests increase, uplink bandwidths also increase. In the data relay method, the relay station receives data from the BS and the MS, performs network coding on first data received from the BS and second data received from the MS using a predefined operator, generates a packet with the network-coded data, and transmits the packet to the BS and the MS through one wireless channel. Identification information indicating the network coding, identification information of the MS, sizes of the first and second data, and sequence numbers of the first and second data are recorded in a header of the packet.
