    • Individual ones of articles such as (LED) devices 10 are fed and positioned at one or more stations along a path traversed by the devices. A track 30 guidably advances the devices 10 in single file to and beyond stations 63 and 64 successively located along the path represented by a channel 35 in the track 30. An assembly 50 shuttles, transversely of the channel 35, a plurality of fingers 66-70 simultaneously from a working state to and from a transitory state with respect to devices 10 in channel 35. The fingers may be in the form of thin, upright blades 66-70 which are engaged to assembly 50 and extend substantially normally of and into channel 35 in response to the shuttling. An indexing blade 68 extends from the front of and into channel 35 when shuttling assembly 50 is in the working state to block a waiting file of devices 10. At stations 63 and 64, positioning blades 66 and 67, respectively, extend from the front of and into channel 35 when shuttling assembly 50 is in the working state to position respective devices 10 for treatment. At stations 63 and 64, detaining blades 69 and 70, respectively, extend from the back of and into channel 35 when shuttling assembly 50 is in the transitory state to block a respective device 10 from advancing beyond a respective station during the shuttling. The detaining blade 69 is spaced from the indexing blade 68 a distance suitable to cooperatively capture therebetween a device 10 from the waiting file during a shuttling cycle. Such device 10 is then released to blade 66 when shuttling assembly 50 is returned to the working state.

    • A display rack for displaying in a market the combination of packaged soft drinks, advertising signs associated therewith, and chilled soft drinks for local consumption in the market is described. The display rack includes a central station in which a lithographed artwork depicting the products being sold or dispensed is disposed. A chilled beverage dispenser fits into the central section below the lithographed artwork. On each side of the central section is a shelf unit for storing and displaying packaged beverages of a like or similar kind to those dispensed in the central section of the display rack, as well as to those found in the packaged goods section at a separate location of the supermarket. A roof or canopy fits over all three sections of the display rack and holds them together as one unit. The canopy has an open top and diffuser panels in the bottom thereof to faciliate the illumination of the display rack sections with ambient light. A plurality of decorative lanterns are secured to the canopy. These lanterns include reflectors therein which reflect ambient light to give the appearance of being electrically energized.

    • Apparatus and methods for noninvasively measuring blood density and hematocrit in a human subject can include an appliance for applying pressure around a segment of a subject's limb or appendage that includes a pressure sensing means and encloses an array of impedance sensing devices applied to the subject's skin for independent fluid volume measurements. While applying pressure to the limb segment by the pressure appliance, measurements of blood pressure, blood pulse wave velocity, and limb segment impedance are recorded. The measurements are subsequently processed to yield changes of arterial blood volume during pulse wave passage. Then pressure, wave velocity, and derived volume data are combined to yield the density of the blood. Blood density is converted to hematocrit by means of a linear relationship between the two. Independent of the blood hematocrit, such apparatus and means may also be used to measure the density of enclosed fluid in other pulsed flow non-rigid wall vessel systems.
