    • A method for computing surface descriptors for a closed surface, which are each encoded with a property of the closed surface. A triangulated model of the closed surface is provided that includes a number of triangles (100). A number of random points within the closed surface are selected (102). A set of surface descriptors originated from each of the plurality of random points are generated, in parallel, using a ray bouncing algorithm (104). Each surface descriptor is determined using: a ray length of a ray traced by the ray bouncing algorithm; and an estimated property value at the point of intersection. The estimated property value is calculated using property values corresponding to the vertices of the intersected triangle. It is determined whether a distribution of the sets of surface descriptors converge using a convergence algorithm (106). The ray bouncing and convergence algorithms are repeated until this distribution is determined to converge.

    • An artificial neuron is formed from an input subcircuit, a capacitor free leaky integrator subcircuit, and an output switching subcircuit. The input subcircuit is configured to supply a pulsed input signal. The capacitor free leaky integrator subcircuit is configured to supply a parasitic capacitance and to utilize the parasitic capacitance to provide differing time constriants for the rising and falling edges on an output signal produced in response to the pulsed input signal. The output switching subcircuit is configured to, upon receipt of a sufficient output signal from the capacitor free leaky integrator subcircuit, switch off the input subcircuit and to release a neuron firing signal (Figure 1, vin, VGR, VGA Vout).

    • The present invention is a menstrual cycle calculation device (301), including a calendar (104), which has a time period spanning more than two months displayed thereon. The device (301) includes a first date indicator (218) movable with respect to the calendar (104) to identify a first date on the calendar. This first date corresponds to a first day for taking a first cycle of an oral contraceptive regimen. The device also includes at least one range indicator (228) that moves in a corresponding manner with the first date indicator (218) to show a range between two dates on the calendar (104) This range corresponds to days wherein a menstrual period is expected. The present invention also is directed towards a method for calculating dates of menstrual cycles several months in advance using such a device.
