    • An air conditioning system (32) for an aircraft mover (10) motively powered by a driving engine (28). The air conditioning system (32) comprises a supplementary internal-combustion engine (62), a hydraulically powerable compressor (38),an evaporator (40) and a condenser (42) fed by the hydraulically powerable compressor (38), at least one fan (48) associated with the evaporator (40) and powerable by a first electrical output (70) associated with the driving engine (28) and a second electrical output (72) associated with the supplementary internal-combustion engine (62), and a controller (74) for activating the supplementary internal-combustion engine (62), under at least idling stop of the driving engine (28). The supplementary internal-combustion engine (62) hydraulically powers the compressor (38) at substantially constant speed. The invention further relates to an aircraft mover (10) having such an air conditioning system (32), and also to a method of reducing the fuel consumption of an aircraft mover (10).

    • A single point disconnect system useful for pushback of an aircraft using a tow bar and a vehicle includes a first sensor assembly that determines whether an angle of the tow bar respective to a surface of the vehicle to which the tow bar is coupled exceeds a threshold limit, a second sensor assembly that determines the direction of the wheels of the vehicle that are responsible for steering the vehicle, and an indicator panel. The indicator panel includes a first light module and a second light module that are coupled to the first sensor assembly and the second sensor assembly, respectively. The first light module emits light that indicates the angle of the tow bar respective to the surface of the vehicle and the second light module emits light that indicates the direction of the wheels of the vehicle.

    • An improved aircraft gate parking and servicing method is provided, wherein an aircraft is maneuvered into an airport terminal gate and parked in an optimum orientation at an angle that facilitates maximum access to aircraft front and rear doors. Boarding bridges are designed to facilitate connection to doors located rear of an aircraft wing without extending over the aircraft wing to maximize efficiency of passenger transfer. Passenger transfer and servicing of the aircraft may occur concurrently before the aircraft is maneuvered out of its optimum orientation in the parking space and driven to a takeoff runway for departure. Required safety margins are maintained at all times during aircraft maneuvers into and out of the optimum parking orientation. Stairs may be provided to simultaneously access aircraft doors not connected to boarding bridges. In a preferred embodiment, aircraft are moved to an optimum parking location by engines-off electric taxi systems.
