    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the steering force according to the vehicle running condition such as the car speed and the steering angle, as well as to regulate the steering force according to the individual demands, and to make the steering device in a simple structure and at a low cost. SOLUTION: In this steering device, a steering shaft 10 which consists of a core line 12, an orthogonal winding 20, a left direction winding 20A, and a right direction winding 20B is provided. The tensions of the left direction winding 20A and the right direction winding 20B can be changed by the rotation of a set bolt 14 (a motor 18). At the curve part of the steering shaft 10, a moving resistance is generated in the left direction winding 20A and the right direction winding 20B. Since the moving resistance is responsive to the tensions of the left direction winding 20A and the right direction winding 20B, the steering force can be increased and decreased adequately, by controlling the rotation of the motor 18 according to the individual demands or the vehicle running condition such as the car speed and the steering angle.

SOLUTION: In the steering wheel operation device 10 of this vehicle, when the vehicle starts to rearwardly advance (step 315), a control stick 23 is rotated while maintaining steering angles θs of steering wheels Tfl, Tfr to a reference angle '0' to be capable of arranging one of right and left operation parts 23L, 23R at an upper side position (step 325). When the case where the vehicle is rearwardly advanced is completed (step 340), the control stick 23 is rotated and returned while maintaining the steering angles θs of the steering wheels Tfl, Tfr to the reference angle to be capable of returning the positions of the right and left operation parts 23L, 23R to a neutral position such that the operation part does not exist at the upper side position (step 345).     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device for a vehicle not only capable of changing a steering gear ratio in accordance with a steering angle of a steering wheel, but capable of optionally setting an steering angle characteristic suitable for the vehicle and extending freedom of design. SOLUTION: A steering device 10 for a vehicle is furnished with a rack bar 22 and a disc 30 to axially move by steering of a steering wheel 24, and an eccentric pin 36 of the disc 30 is put in a slit 46 of an oscillating link 42. When the rack bar 22 axially moves, the disc 30 is rotated while axially moving, the eccentric pin 36 oscillates the oscillating link 42 and a turning rod 12 is driven. As the eccentric pin 36 is rotated while axially moving, actual moving quantity increases, a pressurizing position of the oscillating link 42 is changed, and a lever ratio is changed. Consequently, a steering gear ratio is changed in accordance with a steering angle of the steering wheel 24.
