    • An optical disk apparatus records data on an optical disk or reproduces data therefrom. The optical disk has a plurality of zones each including a plurality of tracks, and the optical disk apparatus records or reproduces data with respect to the zones on the basis of clock signals having different frequencies. The optical disk apparatus comprises first and second phase comparators. The first phase comparator is a pull-in type and outputs a signal corresponding to the phase difference between a clock signal generated by a PLL circuit and a binary signal of reproduction data. The second phase comparator is a lock-in type and outputs a signal corresponding to the phase difference between a signal obtained by frequency-dividing the clock signal generated by the PLL circuit and a signal obtained by frequency-dividing a fundamental clock signal. When data is to be recorded or when the timings at which the PLL circuit outputs clock signals are not appropriate, the clock signals of the PLL circuit are processed by a voltage controlled oscillator in accordance with a signal supplied from the pull-in type first phase comparator. When data is to be reproduced, the clock signals of the PLL circuit are processed by the same voltage controlled oscillator in accordance with a signal supplied from the lock-in type second phase comparator.

    • The present invention aims at preventing erroneous data reproduction even when the amplitude center of a signal of a data part read out from an optical disc is displaced. An information reproducing apparatus comprises read means for reading data stored in each of block units on an optical disc and outputting a read signal, digitizing means for digitizing the read signal by using a slice level, generating means for comparing the signal digitized by the digitizing means and clock signals output at predetermined intervals, thereby generating a charge width signal representing a phase difference between the digitized signal and the clock signals, while the data stored in a data storing portion of the block unit is read by the read means, and changing means for changing the slice level of the digitizing means on the basis of the charge width signal generated by the generating means.

    • An optical disk apparatus has an optical head for recording information on or reproducing information from an optical disk. The optical disk has a number of spiral or concentric tracks and a number of sectors formed along the circumferential direction of the disk. The sectors are divided into a plurality of sector blocks along the circumferential direction of the disk. Each sector block includes a different number of sectors which are continuous along the circumferential direction and which have a substantially constant linear length. A memory stores at least the speed data for maintaining a constant relative speed between the optical head and optical disk and is determined for each block group having a predetermined number of blocks. Speed data corresponding to the designated sector block is read out from the memory and is supplied to a velocity control circuit. A motor is driven to maintain a constant linear velocity between the optical head and the tracks of the optical disk.
