摘要： The cryosurgical system comprises a Joule-Thomson cryoprobe including a Joule-Thomson nozzle and a cryoprobe outlet. The Joule-Thomson nozzle is in fluid communication with the cryoprobe outlet. A high pressure gas supply line is aligned to supply gas to the Joule-Thomson cryoprobe. An operating cut-off valve is operatively connected to the high pressure gas supply line, the valve being operable to supply and cut off high pressure gas to the Joule-Thomson cryoprobe. A vent valve assembly is operatively connected to the high pressure gas supply line, the vent valve assembly being operable to vent gas from the high pressure supply line immediately upon operation of the operating cut-off valve to cut off high pressure gas to the Joule-Thomson cryoprobe. An interlock controls the vent valve assembly, the interlock being operable to open the vent valve assembly immediately upon operation of the cut-off valve to cut off high pressure gas to the Joule-Thomson cryoprobe. A backpressure source is operably connected to the cryoprobe outlet for supplying backpressure to the Joule-Thomson cryoprobe to minimize residual flow through the Joule-Thomson nozzle.

摘要： A cryosurgical system for assisting an operator in placing and operating cryosurgical probes in the prostate of a human patient. The cryosurgical system includes a computer system being programmed with software capable of performing the following steps: a) capturing a plurality of transverse views of the prostate; b) capturing a sagittal view of the prostate; c) outlining the capsule of the prostate, the urethra and the rectal wall of the patient with the assistance of the operator, utilizing the captured plurality of transverse views and the captured sagittal view; d) constructing a 3-dimensional model of the prostate, the urethra and the rectal wall utilizing the outlines of step c), above; and, e) utilizing the 3-dimensional model of the prostate, the urethra and the rectal wall to determine i) the number of cryosurgical probes to be utilized; ii) probe settings; and, iii) probe placement positions. The resultant ice thus produced by the cryosurgical probes is optimized for a specific patient.

摘要： An imaging device receives imaging data from a treatment region of a patient, processes the imaging data and provides imaging output data and imaging signals. A computer system includes a guidance module for processing the imaging signals and providing treatment guidance plan to an operator. A treatment module acquires and processes surgical device output data, for optimally controlling treatment parameters and providing feedback information to the operator based on the treatment guidance plan. A set of surgical devices includes at least one ablative device for providing ablation of the treatment region based on the treatment parameters and operator input; and, at least one temperature sensing device for acquiring temperature data from the treatment region and providing a temperature sensing device output signal which is a portion of the surgical device output data. The treatment guidance plan is utilized for appropriately placing the ablative device and the temperature-sensing device.
