摘要： PURPOSE:To shorten the overall length of a shaft between a connecting point with an engine and the end of No.1 output shaft by arranging a clutch coaxially with No.2 output shaft arranged in parallel with No.1 output shaft which is installed coaxially with an engine shaft. CONSTITUTION:A front wheel output shaft 26 is arranged in parallel with a rear wheel shaft 25, and these output shafts 25 and 26 are connected with each other while they are disconnected as required, through both a power transmitting mechanism 27 and a clutch 28 for change-over between a four wheel drive device and a two wheel drive device. And a driven shaft 29 which receives a rotating force from the power transmitting mechanism 27, is fitted coaxially onto the front output shaft 26 at its position from the center section to the rear end so that they can be rotated relatively. In case of an automatic transmission 20, as the clutch 28 for change-over between a four wheel drive device and a two wheel drive device is arranged on the side of the front wheel output shaft 26, the overall length of the shaft of the automatic transmission 20 can be shortened. This enables a cabin space to be widened with the provision of both improved habitability and riding comfort.

CONSTITUTION:A two wheel drive-four wheel drive change-over clutch 29 is disposed between a rear wheel side output clotch 25 which is parallel with a front wheel side output shaft 26, and a drive shaft 28 which is coaxial with the output shaft 25. A rotational speed detecting mechanism is composed of a speed meter drive gear 110 fitted on the front wheel side output shaft 26 in front of a second cluth 31 and a speed meter driven gear 109 meshed with the drive gear 110. A sensor 109 coupled to the gear 109 issues an output signal which indicates whether the free wheel hub is in a lock condition or in a freee condition, and which may be also used as an interlock signal for changeover into the four wheel drive mode.

Therefore, the generation of synchronization in speed change can be avoided, and the speed change shock is not amplified.

And each of the seal S1 and S3 is lubricated through an oil passage located within the intermediate transmitting shaft 23.

In this way, when no change is generated in the vehicle running condition, the solenoid valve S1-S4 continuously outputs the pressure of oil in a low level, and the pressure of oil in an oil hydraulic control device is prevented from draining by connection, enabling a decrease of the pressure in the oil hydraulic control device to be prevented.

In this device, the car speed is detected by a means B. A means C sets the value of the prescribed differential movement restricting force applied in the case when the above-described input torque is small so as to becomes high when the detected car speed is high. Therefore, the tight corner braking phenomenon can be dissolved, and the chattering noise accompanied with the ON/OFF of an accelerator can be reduced, and the high speed stability can be improved.
