    • PURPOSE:To shorten the overall length of a shaft between a connecting point with an engine and the end of No.1 output shaft by arranging a clutch coaxially with No.2 output shaft arranged in parallel with No.1 output shaft which is installed coaxially with an engine shaft. CONSTITUTION:A front wheel output shaft 26 is arranged in parallel with a rear wheel shaft 25, and these output shafts 25 and 26 are connected with each other while they are disconnected as required, through both a power transmitting mechanism 27 and a clutch 28 for change-over between a four wheel drive device and a two wheel drive device. And a driven shaft 29 which receives a rotating force from the power transmitting mechanism 27, is fitted coaxially onto the front output shaft 26 at its position from the center section to the rear end so that they can be rotated relatively. In case of an automatic transmission 20, as the clutch 28 for change-over between a four wheel drive device and a two wheel drive device is arranged on the side of the front wheel output shaft 26, the overall length of the shaft of the automatic transmission 20 can be shortened. This enables a cabin space to be widened with the provision of both improved habitability and riding comfort.

    • PURPOSE:To enable a proper amount of lubricant oil to be applied within a transmission mechanism so as to prevent increase in oil temperature and decrease in transmission efficiency by arranging each of double lip seals not only in the transmission mechanism chamber between partitioned No.1 and No.2 output shafts but also in a space between a transmission gear and a rear chamber. CONSTITUTION:A transfer gear case for a four wheel drive car is composed of an extension case, a front transmission mechanism case 7 which is connected with the rear side of the extension case, a rear transmission mechanism case 8, and an extension housing 9, al of which are connected in series. In this case, a double lip oil seal S1 is arranged between a cylindrical support 73 and an intermediate transmitting shaft 23 so as to allow a switch-over mechanism chamber 45A and a front transmission mechanism chamber 80 to be partitioned and sealed. And a double lip oil seal S3 is also arranged between a cylindrical support 82 and a rear end section 23B of an intermediate transmitting shaft 23 so as to allow the rear transmission mechanism case 8 and the extension housing 9 to be partitioned and sealed. And each of the seal S1 and S3 is lubricated through an oil passage located within the intermediate transmitting shaft 23.
