摘要： PURPOSE:To clarify harmful substances in exhaust gas in a wide temperature range by supporting platinum element containing more than a specific amount of platinum an alkali metal, and cerium as catalyst components on a support. CONSTITUTION:As catalyst components, platinum, platinum-palladium, platinum- rhodium, or platinum-palladium-rhodium, containing 50wt% or more Pt, and alkali metals (Li, Na, K, Rh, and Ca) are supported on a support. The preferred amount of alkali metals supported is 0.001-1mol on the basis of 1kg of the catalyst. Furthermore, in order to raise the clarifying characteristic of the catalyst in a low- temperature region, cerium (e.g., CeO2, Ce2O3, etc.) is supported on the catalyst support.

摘要： PURPOSE:To coat a film of a spinel-structured metal oxide on the surface of a carrier of the catalyst for cleaning up the exhaust gas, by hydrothermally treating an aqueous solution containing polyaluminum chloride, thereafter adding an aqueous solution of a metal salt to the former solution and stirring and mixing both the solutions with each other to prepare a coating liquid for the carrier. CONSTITUTION:The aqueous solution containing a polyaluminum chloride is put in an enclosed container proof against pressure and heat and is hydrothermally treated at 100-150 deg.C. After that, the aqueous solution of a metal salt of a metal such as Sr or Mn is added to the former solution. These solutions are stirred and mixed with each other to prepare the coating liquid. The catalyst carrier of alpha- alumina, magnesia or the like is treated with the coating liquid. The carrier is then heated and baked to produce a film of the spinel-structured metal oxide on the surface of the carrier. The carrier is then thereafter caused to carry the catalystic substance to manufacture the catalyst. This catalyst simultaneously cleans up three constituents, which are CO, HC and NOX in the exhaust gas, with high activity in a wide range of temperature.

The catalyst simultaneously cleans up three constituents, which are CO, HC and Mox, with high efficiency in a wide range of air fuel ratio.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain the title catalyst with large specific surface area, superior heat resistance and exfoliation resistance by uniformly adhering an aq. compsn. consisting of alumina sol stabilized with an inorg. or org. acid and of finely divided alpha- or delta-alumina to a catalyst carrier, followed by drying, calcination and support of a catalytic substance. CONSTITUTION:Alumina sol contg. 5-20% Al2O3 stabilized with an inorg. or org. acid is mixed with water or further mixed with 0.1-10% Al(NO3)3. To the soln, are added one or more kinds of alumina selected from alpha-, delta-, mu- and theta-alumina with a specific surface area of 30-150 m /g and an average diameter below 20 mu so that the AlO3 content is regulated to 20-60%. The resulting slurry is uniformly adhered to a carrier such as MgO, dried, and calcined at 600-1000 deg.C. A catalytic substance is then supported on the Al2O3 film-coated carrier as usual.

The amount of PTFE of gas side electrode 1 is limited to 30-60wt%, and that of electrolyte side electrode 2 is to 15-25wt%. By this process, a gas diffusion electrode having high performance is manufactued efficiently and inexpensively.

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve gas purification function at a cool time by providing a valve system which allows exhaust gas to flow only to the central part of a catalyzer at a cool time right after starting an internal combustion engine while allows said gas to flow through the whole catalyzer after warming the engine. CONSTITUTION:A changeover valve 10 at an inlet of a monolith catalyzer 2 in a catalyzer converter 1 is operated to regulate its opening to narrow a gas flow passage down to the central part of the catalyzer 2 while exhaust gas is cooled. When an exhaust gas route 12 is warmed and reaches predetermined temperature after starting, a changeover signal is issued from a temperature detector 13, and a computer unit 14, a solenoid valve 16 is opened by means of a solenoid valve control circuit 15 and further the changeover valve 10 is opened by means of operation of a negative pressure control valve 19 through negative pressure circuits 17, 18, while gas stream being flown through the whole catalyzer 2. This results in an efficient rise in temperature of the catalyzer 2 up to a temperature for starting reaction and the gas purification function is improved.
