摘要： The present invention describes a method for operation and maintenance of Access Points in a wireless communications network, and a network node and an access point for use in such a network. Access points are used for connecting wireless networks to core networks. The method comprises the step of first receiving, at a network node, an on-demand triggered request for status information, wherein the request includes an access point identity. The network node investigates, using the received access point identity, if the access point is registered within the network. If the access point is registered within the network, then as a first following step, the network node uses the access point identity to retrieving access point address information from storing means. In a second following step, the network node uses the retrieved address information to establish a connection to the access point. Thereafter the network node receives access point status information. As a last step, a response including the access point status information is sent to an end user.

摘要： A method and arrangement are proposed for facilitating handover from a 3 G WCDMA UTRAN to a generic access network (GAN) cell. In preparation for handover, mobile stations measure the signal level transmitted from neighbouring cells as instructed by the RNC. When in a WCDMA UTRAN, the measurement of inter-frequency cells, i.e. cells having a frequency number that is different from the serving cell, requires the network to generate time gaps during which the mobile station can perform measurements on different frequencies (compressed mode). GAN cells do not transmit on their allotted frequency number, but this number together with an identifier is used to identify the GAN cell between the MS and RNC. In order to permit GAN cells to always have the same frequency number as neighbouring UTRAN cells, a modified registration procedure is proposed, wherein the MS communicates the frequency number used in the current UTRAN cell to the GAN controller, which adopts this frequency, and if necessary uses it to determine the corresponding identifier. The identifier may be the same for all GAN cells, or can be obtained from a small mapping table, which maps an identifier to each frequency or to a group of frequencies.

摘要： A system and method for adapting circuit-switched payload transport between a mobile station, MS, (30) and an unlicensed-radio access network utilizing the Real-Time Transport Protocol, RTP. The MS (30) and an access network controller (103) negotiate the number of speech/data frames per RTP packet during the assignment of a traffic channel. The network controller notifies (62) the MS of a requested or minimum acceptable sample size, and the MS utilizes that sample size, if able, to send (86) RTP packets to the network controller. If the MS is not capable of utilizing that sample size, the MS utilizes the closest sample size that the MS can support to send (89) packets to the network controller. The network controller then calculates (90) the sample size utilized by the MS and utilizes (91) the calculated sample size in transmissions to the MS. Thereafter, if network conditions change, another negotiation is initiated (94-97) to adapt the sample size to the changed conditions.
