    • Disclosed herein is a combined varistor and LC filter device in which both a varistor function of protecting circuits by absorbing surge voltage and an electromagnetic interference filter function of improving radiation characteristics are implemented in a single chip, thus having reduced mounting area. The combined device includes a body which acts as an insulator at voltages below a predetermined level, and the resistance of which decreases rapidly at voltages above a predetermined level. Inductance patterns constituting an LC resonant circuit, capacitance patterns and ground patterns are implemented in the body in a multilayer structure. The combined device operates as an LC filter at a low voltage and operates as a varistor at a high voltage.

    • Disclosed is a tablet liquid crystal display device which senses light applied from a light irradiating device to receive an input signal applied from an exterior. The tablet liquid crystal display device comprising: a liquid crystal panel for displaying an image, including a black matrix formed in a lattice form; and a signal recognizing section for generating an electromotive force according to a light signal inputted from an exterior, wherein the signal recognizing section comprises: a plurality of first photoelectromotive force generation layers, each of which is located above the black matrix in a sectional view, is overlapped with the black matrix in a plan view, and extends in a first direction; an insulating layer deposited to cover at least an upper surface of the first electromotive force generation layers; a plurality of second photoelectromotive force generation layers, each of which is located above the black matrix in a sectional view, is overlapped with the black matrix in a plan view, and extends in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction; and a protection layer deposited over an entire area of the signal recognizing section.

    • A platform-independent system and method for remotely controlling home devices and a computer-readable recording medium in which a program capable of executing the method is recorded are disclosed. The method includes installing a device control application to be used for the management of a home device when the home device is connected to the home network system, bring state information of the home device through the installed device control application, controlling a specified home device from an outside, receiving a report of an event occurring in the home device, and using a SOAP so that the above operations are performed irrespective of the middleware of a home gateway. Accordingly, the home devices connected to the home network through the home gateway can be controlled from the outside irrespective of the middleware supported by the home gateway.

    • There is provided a frequency estimation method of multiband (MB)-orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) ultra wide band (UWB) system using an Alt-PHY time frequency (TF) hopping strategy based on IEEE 802. 15. 3a. The frequency estimation method includes the steps of: a) selecting a predetermined number of frequencies among a plurality of center frequencies based on a predetermined number of OFDM symbols and estimating relative frequency offsets for selected frequencies; b) obtaining an average relative frequency offset by averaging the estimated relative frequency offsets when two or more frequencies are selected at the step a); and c) obtaining real frequency offsets for each of the center frequencies by transforming the obtained average relative frequency offset to the real frequency offsets and compensating a frequency offset caused by a transmitting/receiving local oscillators based on the obtained real frequency offsets.
