    • In a method of recording a radiation image by use of a stimulable phosphor in which the stimulable phosphor is first exposed to an imagewise radiation to store the energy of the radiation and then is exposed to stimulating rays to emit light in accordance with the energy stored therein, the instantaneous emission of light emitted upon exposure of the stimulable phosphor to the radiation is detected to measure the level of the energy of the radiation stored in the phosphor. The instantaneous emission is detected by a photosensor which is located behind the phosphor. The output of the photosensor is utilized to control the density and/or contrast of the final image recorded on a photographic film which is recorded by use of the light emitted by the phosphor upon stimulated.

The phosphor emits light of high luminance when stimulated by light having a wavelength within the range of 500 to 1100 nm after exposure to a radiation such X-rays, ultraviolet rays, cathode rays, or the like. Further, the phosphor exhibits little fading. Accordingly, the radiation image storage panel has high sensitivity and exhibits improved fading property.

    • A transmission-type electron microscope comprises a lens system including an electron gun for producing an electron beam that is focused and directed to a specimen. The lens system forms a magnified electron optical image of the specimen from the electron beam transmitted through the specimen. A two-dimensional sensor is mounted in the plane in which the magnified image is formed, the sensor acting to store the energy of the electron beam impinging on it and to release the stored energy as light when illuminated with light or heated. An electron beam-deflecting means is mounted in the lens system and acting to tilt the focal plane in which the magnified lens image is formed, in such a way that a straight line extending from the main optical axis of the electron beam between the electron gun and the specimen does not interset the two-dimensional sensor.

    • An acoustooptic image can be formed by using a plate-like image sensor capable of increasing its optical density upon exposure to a radiation. The image sensor is exposed to a radiation bearing image information to record the image information on the image sensor. Then, pulsed light is applied to the image sensor to enable the same to generate a pressure wave commensurate with the recorded image information. The pressure wave is detected in synchronism with the pulsed light and converted into an electric signal, from which an image signal is reproduced. The image signal may be displayed on a CRT, or recorded on a magnetic recording medium, or reproduced on a photographic material.
