    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolytic method by which even the corresponding hydrogen reaction rate can be contained in a hydrogen reaction chamber and the current efficiency of hydrogen reaction with respect to the electrolytic current for generating hydrogen can always be maintained at a high value, at the time of enhancing the electrolysis rate to enhance the hydrogen generation rate, and also to provide an equipment for this method. SOLUTION: This method comprises: dividing the equipment for this method into an electrolytic chamber 3 and a reaction chamber 4 with a hydrogen occlusion metal member 2; performing electrolysis of an electrolytic solution with one surface of the hydrogen occlusion metal member 2 as a cathode, by passing a current through the electrolytic solution between this cathode and an anode 5; occluding hydrogen generated by the electrolysis in the hydrogen occlusion metal member 2; and continuously subjecting the occluded hydrogen and an objective substance(s) to be treated to catalytic reaction on the other surface of the hydrogen occlusion metal member 2 to perform hydrogenation or reduction reaction of the objective substance(s) with the occluded hydrogen; wherein, as the equipment for the electrolytic method, an equipment provided with a porous catalyst layer 10 on the surface for catalytic reaction of the hydrogen occlusion metal member 2 is used, and this porous catalyst layer 10 is formed by reducing metal actions in an electroless plating solution with active hydrogen obtained through desorption of the occluded hydrogen in the occlusion metal, to plate the hydrogen occlusion metal member 2 with the metal derived from the metal actions.
