    • Method, apparatus, and computer program product embodiments are disclosed for an adaptive computing platform that provides execution-in-place capability for a mobile computing device (100) to enhance the processing power of the device as it moves from one external processor to another. In embodiments of the invention, a mobile wireless device (100) stores one or more execution contexts (170) in a memory of the mobile wireless device resulting from execution by a processor (141, 142) in the mobile wireless device of program code of an application (104) stored in the memory. A transceiver (160R, 160T) or input/output device in the mobile wireless device detects that a stationary wireless device (200) is within wireless communications range or detects a secure communication link (180) with the stationary wireless device. The transceiver (160R, 160T) shares the execution context over a wireless communications medium to the stationary wireless device (200) for continued execution-in-place of the application by the stationary wireless device (200). Later, the transceiver (160R, 160T) detects an external event that results in voluntary/involuntary closing of the secure communication link (180) with the stationary wireless device (200). In response, the transceiver (160R, 160T) receives one or more execution contexts (172) from the stationary wireless device (200) over the wireless communications medium for continued execution-in-place of the application (104) by the processor (141, 142) in the mobile wireless device (100). The continued execution-in-place of the application (104) includes shared execution sessions between the mobile wireless device (100) and the stationary wireless device (200).

    • An approach is provided for automatic controlled value expansion of information. A value expansion controller detects a request at a device to perform an information operation on a set of data elements of an information space, wherein the request identifies the set by a name and the information operation applies to each data element within the set. The value expansion controller intercepts the request based on the detection and determines the location of the data elements within a communication network based on the name. The value expansion controller retrieves the data elements from the location and populates an expansion table with the retrieved data elements, wherein the expansion table is correlated to the set. The value expansion controller performs the information operation on each data element in the expansion table and causes transmission of one or more results of the information operation to the device.
