    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator wherein the hydrogen gas and the oxygen gas generated by water electrolysis can be effectively sent to the outside of a water electrolysis stack without using any special equipment, and the formation of a difference between the pressure on the positive electrode side and that on the negative electrode side can therefore be reduced. SOLUTION: This gas generator is the one provided with a water electrolysis part 1 that electrolyzes water to produce hydrogen and oxygen and a holder 102 that holds the water electrolysis part 1 in the state slant with respect the horizontal plane, wherein the water electrolysis part 1 is provided with a cell 3 using a solid polyelectrolyte membrane 6 and separators laid in a manner in which the cell 3 is sandwiched between them, wherein each separator has a first passage 4 through which the hydrogen and the water that has permeated the membrane 6 pass, and the water electrolysis part 1 has the above slant in a direction substantially the same as that in which the first passage 4 runs.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply a fuel cell wherein degradation due to electric erosion at a piping connected to the stack for generating power is hard to occur. SOLUTION: The fuel cell comprises gas supply pipings (4-1 and 6-1) for supplying the gas for power generation which is humidified, a stack (1) which generates power using the gas for power generation, and a gas supply joint piping (12) which connects the gas supply pipings (4-1 and 6-1) to the stack (1). The gas for power generation is guided into the stack (1) through the inside of the joint piping (12). At least a part (12a) of inside surfaces (12a and 12b) of the joint piping (12) is covered with a platinum group metal film (14) comprising an alloy or metal of platinum group element. The platinum group metal film (14) which is hard to suffer electric erosion protects the joint piping (12) from the electric erosion. Further, the platinum group metal film (14) functions as the catalyst which consumes a micro current from the stack (1), which is the cause of electric erosion, to decompose water into hydrogen and oxygen, preventing electric erosion.
