    • A self-excited inverter comprises a pair of switching devices and a transformer having a primary side to which the switching devices are connected and a secondary side to which a lamp is connected. A pulse voltage is applied alternately to gates of the individual switching devices through a drive winding of the transformer, causing the switching devices to turn on and off in alternate turns to produce an AC voltage which is supplied from a pair of main windings of the transformer to the secondary side thereof. An input voltage supplied to the main windings of the transformer is divided by a voltage divider circuit configured with a plurality of resistors and voltages divided by the voltage divider circuit are applied to the gates of the individual switching devices so that the startup voltage follows the input voltage.

    • A push-pull inverter allows a power supply unit to supply an input voltage to two primary windings of a transformer, and allows MOSFETs (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors) to drive the transformer in push-pull mode so as to increase the input voltage supplied from the power supply unit and to output the increased voltage as an output voltage from a secondary winding of the transformer. The two primary windings of the transformer are mixedly wound on a same bobbin without being separated, so that when the transformer is driven, the two primary windings of the transformer are prevented from resonating with each other. This makes it possible to prevent turbulence in the input current, thereby reducing loss (power loss) of the MOSFETs, allowing the transformer to have a high efficiency.

    • An improved structure of a solid oxide electrolyte fuel cell (SOFC) is disclosed. A generating layer in the SOFC consists of three layers of a fuel electrode, an oxide layer and an oxygen electrode, and is shaped into a dimpled structure having recessed portions on its both surfaces. Protruded portions on the side of the fuel electrode are electrically bonded with an interconnector layer via a first conductive adhesive, while protruded portions on the side of the oxygen electrode of another generating layer are electrically bonded with the same interconnector layer via a second conductive adhesive. A plurality of generating layers and a plurality of interconnector layers are alternately stacked and they are electrically bonded in the above-described manner. Preferably the first conductive adhesive is made of material common to the fuel electrode and the second conductive adhesive is made of material common to the oxygen electrode. Owing to the improved structure, occurrence of lateral flows of electrons in the interconnector layers having a large resistance can be suppressed, hence an electrical resistance can be reduced, and also amounts of materials of the oxygen electrode and the fuel electrode can be made small.

    • The present invention provides a laser ionization mass spectrometric apparatus comprising a sample introducing portion provided with a pulse valve which forms molecular jet, a pulsed laser beam oscillator, a vacuum ionization chamber or a corresponding portion thereto having a window capable of passing the laser beam radiated from the oscillator, and a mass spectrometer which analyzes the mass of molecules ionized by the laser beam, wherein said pulse laser oscillator has an ability of oscillating ultrashort pulsed laser beam having a peak output of 1 MW or more. The laser ionization mass spectrometric apparatus can use a turbo-molecular vacuum pump to evacuate the above vacuum ionization chamber and the above sample introducing portion can comprise two or more pinhole nozzles. The laser ionization mass spectrometric apparatus can have the above slit nozzle partitioned from the vacuum ionization chamber by a slit skimmer which inhibits a stream of molecules on the periphery of the molecular jet from entering the vacuum ionization chamber. The apparatus of the invention has a high sensitivity and high accuracy, and is rendered compact. Accordingly, the apparatus exercises its power in the rapid analysis of combustion exhaust gases and the like.
