摘要： A method and system for decoding and storing encoded control data delivered via the horizontal overscan area of a video signal. An interactive device such as a toy performs behavior defined by control data that can be encoded into a video signal. The toy is equipped with a decoder for extracting data from the horizontal overscan portion of the video signal, and a non-volatile memory that permits the control data to be stored for use after the video signal is no longer being received. The control data are delivered as a series of words that include genus codes and sequence codes. Genus codes identify the specific toy to which the word is directed, as more than one toy may receive the video signal. Error grading is used to minimize the effect of such signal deterioration, so the toy will replace previously received words if newer words are of higher quality.

摘要： An effervescent tablet for direct use as an additive in hot coffee or hot water includes one or more creamer additives, pH stabilizing agents, effervescence agents, and solubility agents. In one embodiment, the tablet includes dry coffee and, in another embodiment, the tablet excludes it. The creamer additive(s) may be dairy and/or non-dairy. The effervescence agent(s) includes sufficient effervescence to separate the tablet upon placement of the tablet in the hot coffee or water and, in one embodiment, to further create foam on the surface of the coffee so as to yield an instant frothy latte or cappuccino. The pH stabilizing agent(s) stabilizes a pH of the coffee and the solubility agent(s) facilitates expeditious dissolution of the tablet in the coffee or water. Various other ingredients and agents may be included in the tablet to enhance flavor, improve mouth feel, enhance foam production, or achieve other desired characteristics or results.

摘要： A circuit board with vias that are suitable for use as test pads can be made according to a method whereby a first end of a via is blocked prior to heating solder paste that covers the opposite end of the via. As a result, air is trapped in the via when the solder paste is heated, which prevents melted solder paste from flowing in. Instead, the solder paste forms a dome shaped test pad over the via, which facilitates contact with the test probe. When applied to OSP circuit boards, the result is an OSP board with at least via that has a blocking material at one end and a solder dome over the opposite end.

A preferred embodiment is the Intelli-Table™ toy that includes three modules, each of which can be installed into an annular channel in the base. When a module is installed, a unique pattern of recesses or flat surfaces on the bottom of the module is detected by a first set of switches in the channel. Based on the unique state of these switches, the base selects a set of functions corresponding to the installed module. Each module includes a plurality of different movable elements that activate a second set of switches in the base. 摘要： A communications system that provides bandwidth efficient, bi-directional communications over a single communications channel, allowing a master device to control the operation of remote devices. A computer system continuously provides an audio/video presentation on a speaker and display device. During a first time period, the computer system also provides control and speech data, relevant to the presentation, to a link master controller. The link master controller encodes the control and speech data to reduce bandwidth requirements, and then transmits the encoded data to a remote device. The remote device receives and decodes the encoded data, places the data into a data buffer, and uses the data to control at least one motion servo motor and/or provide data to a speech synthesizer. During a second time period, the remote device continues to operate on the data in the data buffer while formulating a response message based on the status of at least one sensor device, encoding the response message, and transmitting the encoded response message to the link master controller. In response to receiving the encoded response message, the link master controller decodes the encoded response message, and provides the response message to the computer system. The computer system responds to the reception of the response data by altering the audio/video presentation in accordance with the response data.
