    • An image forming apparatus includes: an electrophotographic photoreceptor including a conductive support and a photosensitive layer including an outermost surface layer capable of transporting a charge, the layer being farthest from the conductive support and containing a resin having a crosslinking structure; a charging unit that charges the electrophotographic photoreceptor; a first exposure unit that exposes the electrophotographic photoreceptor to form an electrostatic latent image on the electrophotographic photoreceptor charged; a developing unit that develop the electrostatic latent image with a toner to form a toner image; a transfer unit that transfer the toner image from the electrophotographic photoreceptor to a medium to be transferred; and a second exposure unit that uniformly expose the electrophotographic photoreceptor, the outermost surface layer absorbing exposure light of the second exposure unit and having a maximum absorbance of about 0.05 or less in the entire wavelength range of the exposure light.

    • Provided are a photoreceptor of an electophotographic system satisfactorily high in resistance to contamination with a developer or corona products and durability to a contact electrification unit or a cleaning blade and capable of preventing occurrence of film defects in the production, and a process cartridge and an image forming apparatus in which a good image quality can be obtained over a long period of time. The photoreceptor includes a conductive substrate and a silicon compound-containing layer located on the substrate and containing a cyclic siloxane compound and/or derivatives thereof. The cyclic siloxane compound has a cyclic structure containing a repeating unit represented by formula (1) wherein A1 and A2, which may be the same or different, each represent a monovalent organic group.

    • A process for producing an electrophotographic photoreceptor, which includes contacting a solution containing at least one of optically functional organosilicon compounds represented by formula (I) F—[D—A]b  (I) with a solid catalyst for reaction, then separating the solid catalyst to form an optically functional coating solution, and coating and curing the optically functional coating solution to form a cured film, an electrophotographic photoreceptor having at least one layer made of the cured film produced by this process, and an image-forming apparatus having the same. The process can produce an electrophotographic photoreceptor having excellent mechanical strengths and a long life stably on an industrial scale over a long period of time by using the stable coating solution having a long pot life, the electrophotographic photoreceptor is excellent in stability and mechanical strengths and has a long life, and the image-forming apparatus has an excellent stability and a long life.
