    • PURPOSE:To change the composition of spray reinforced transfer materials in continuous mode and prevent the generation of cracks resultant from material changes per site by changing a spray flow rate of two types of spray materials between adjacent sites consecutively and changing continuously the spray materials. CONSTITUTION:Before a kneading vessel is lined with some refractories materials selected from a damage factor or a damage level for every intended site, at the point of the time when a refractory insulation castable article reaches a specified thickness, the spray of a first refractory material 2 is continued while the spray of a high aluminum refractory castable article, which is a second refractory material 3, is started. The first flow rate of the first refractory material 2 is reduced continuously while the spray flow rate of the second refractory material 3 is increased continuously. When a continuous boundary tank 4 has reached a specified thickness as a result of the above formation, the spray of the second refractory material 3 is continued until it reaches the specified thickness, thereby finishing the lining work.

    • PURPOSE:To make overall decision of use conditions which affect the wear of carbon- contg. refractories by including detecting rods into the refractories and comparing the characteristics of the detecting rods before and after the use of the refractories. CONSTITUTION:Metallic wires 1 adjusted in diameter or sectional size to a specified size are embedded as the detecting rods into the refractory test piece 2 having the same characteristics as the characteristics of the refractories to be used by directing the longitudinal direction of the wires to the direction of the temp. gradient during the use of the refractories. The test piece 2 is then cut along the metallic wires 1 after the use and the wear of the shape is observed. The metal wires 1 after the use changes to three forms; the part (a) which is largely melted or oxidized, the part (b) which is carbonized and the part (c) which is in the state of the original metal according to the temp. X time X atmosphere of the use conditions. The thermal, chemical and time use conditions to which the refractories are subjected during the use are, therefore, estimated if the characteristics of the metal wires 1, i.e. the revelation conditions of the carbide and oxide of the original metal wires are investigated and measured after use and compared with the original state before use.
