    • Methods of reducing power consumption in a computing device are described in which file sharing applications which are running in the background are offloaded onto a lower power subsystem and the rest of the computing device can be put into a low power state. The lower power subsystem runs application stubs which autonomously execute a subset of the operations performed by a file sharing application which was previously running on the computing device. Before the rest of the computing device goes into the low power state, application state information is passed to the lower power subsystem for use by the application stubs. In an example, the application stub may continue to download files whilst the rest of the computing device is in standby or is shutdown and the application state information may include details of the files that are to be downloaded.

    • The invention relates to an arm elevation support device comprising a generally monolithic humerus support, a contoured well shoulder anchor, and a radius and ulna support. The monolithic humerus support is operable to abut against a patient's side and underlies the humeral portion of a patient's arm. The contoured well shoulder anchor includes a contoured sleeve portion operable to be worn around the acromial portion of a patient's well arm and two straps which releasably connect the well shoulder anchor to the monolithic humerus support. The radius and ulna support connects to the monolithic structure and provides support for a patient's forearm and hand.

    • A double-block and vent valve having an improved actuator mechanism to allow one part of a composite valve member to be lifted separately from another. The actuator mechanism overlies the valve housing and is connected to the two valve member parts via coaxial rod and tube members. Hold-down cams normally block the upward movement of the tube member to positively lock the upper valve member part against its seat when it is desired to lift only the lower valve member part. A pair of pivotal cams are spring-biased to this blocking position where they bear against lug means carried by the tube member. A small, horizontal, fluid-actuated cylinder pivots the hold-down cams to a non-interfering position whenever it is desired to lift only the upper valve member part or to lift the composite valve member.

    • A flow regulating device and specifically an improved roller clamp with a length of conduit exhibiting low compression set properties disposed therein. The clamp includes an elongated box-like body having a fluid inlet at one end with a fluid outlet at the opposite end which are joined by the conduit to provide a flow lumen through the clamp. The roller is captured within a track in the body to selectively compress or release the conduit towards or away from a compression surface disposed at an angular variance to the track. The flow rate is regulated by appropriately positioning the roller. The conduit is captured within the body so as to be unaffected by external pulling or tugging forces.
