摘要： The computer system of the present invention has a plurality of SAS target devices, an SAS initiator device, and a service delivery subsystem that is connected to each SAS target device by means of a physical link that is physical wiring and connected to the SAS initiator device by means of a wide link constituted by a plurality of physical links. The SAS initiator device controls how many physical links in the wide link are allocated to a particular SAS target device, whereby access from the SAS initiator device to the SAS target device is made via a physical link that is allocated to the SAS target device and is not made via a physical link that is not allocated to the SAS target device.

摘要： A disk array system having first and second housings and a controller for controlling the first and second housings. Fiber channel hard disk drives are received in the first housing, and serial ATA hard disk drives are received in the second housing. When reading data stored in a serial ATA hard disk drive in the second housing, the controller reads a plurality of pieces of data including the data to be read and parity data for the plurality of pieces of data from all the hard disk drives of an RAID group to which the hard disk drive storing the data to be read belongs. Thus, the controller examines whether the plurality of pieces of data including the data to be read are written in the hard disk drives with erroneous contents or not.

摘要： A disk array system where a plurality of SATA drive enclosures are connected through an FC loop is made capable of continuing to process data even in the event of a fault. When the system is normally operated, a first system controller and a second system controller execute read/write operations from and to disks of a SATA drive enclosure of a disk array via a first interface connector and a second interface connector, respectively, through the FC loop. When an error occurs on a second backend FC loop, the second system controller disconnects itself from the failed second backend FC loop and switches the path to a first backend FC loop which is normally functioning, to access the disk drive.

摘要： A hybrid-type storage system having both SAN and NAS interfaces can be implemented by simple hardware capable of carrying out a SAN function independently of a NAS function and a NAS load. To be more specific, a controller of the storage system comprises a NAS controller for accepting an I/O command issued for a file unit and a SAN controller for accepting an I/O command issued for a block unit. The NAS controller converts an I/O command issued for a file unit into an I/O command issued for a block unit, and transfers the I/O command issued for a block unit to the SAN controller. The SAN controller makes an access to data stored in a disk apparatus in accordance with an I/O command received from the SAN or from the NAS controller as a command issued for a block unit. The NAS and SAN controllers are capable of operating independently of each other.

摘要： A magnetic disk array device is equipped with ATA magnetic disks, at least one disk array controller for controlling the ATA magnetic disks, and at least one processing offload function module provided between the disk array controller and the ATA magnetic disk. The disk array controller outputs one of a standard processing FC command for performing a standard processing such as a read or write processing, and an offload processing FC command for performing a vendor-unique offload processing. The processing offload function module performs a command mapping for the standard processing FC command and issues to the ATA magnetic disk a corresponding ATA command, and prepares a group of ATA commands for the offload processing FC command for optimum processing in an ATA protocol.
