SOLUTION: A oil room 6d for push-pressing this to a oil supply position side is provided on the speed change control valves 62, 63 of a first group and an oil passage L15 connecting to the oil room 6d is connected to a oil supply passage L2 at the close position of a fail safe valve 9. At the fail time, the line pressure from the oil supply passage L2 is inputted to the oil room 6d and the speed change control valves 62, 63 are switched to the oil supply position forcedly and the oil is supplied to corresponding hydraulic connection elements C2, C3.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve toughness performance with respect to engagement of foreign matter by providing a control means for changing an opening degree of a solenoid valve for shifting. SOLUTION: In the case where a mode is not a line pressure control mode, a rest time T1 of a subtracting type first timer is set to a set time YT1 (S2), and then an opening degree of a shift control valve is increased (S3). In the case where the mode is the line pressure control mode, it is judged (S4) whether the rest time T1 of the first timer attains zero or not. In the case of T1≠0, the opening degree of a solenoid valve for shifting is reduced (S5) to a the necessary minimum opening for outputting the minimum signal pressure serving the shift control valve as fully opening, and the rest time of a subtracting type second timer is set to a set time YT2 (S6). In the case of T1=0, it is judge (S7) whether the rest time of the second timer attains zero. In the case of T2≠0, the opening degree of the solenoid valve for shifting is increased (S3). In the case of T2=0, the rest time T1 of the first timer is set to the set time YT1 (S8), and then next step is advanced to a step of the S5 on and after, and the opening degree of the solenoid valve for shifting is reduced.

SOLUTION: A continuously variable transmission disposed in an FR drive type power transmission path so as to shift rotatory-driving force of an engine in a continuously variable state is constituted having a cam plate type hydraulic pump P and a cam prate type hydraulic motor M of variable displacement type connected through a hydraulic closed circuit 51.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish high and low two shift stages in system down without switching a position of a manual valve 5 between an automatic transmission range and a manual transmission range even in the case where the automatic transmission range and the manual transmission range are selectable as a forward travel range. SOLUTION: This controller has a switch valve 15 capable of being switched to a condition for controlling a shift control valve 61 for low speed stage by a normally opened type solenoid valve 72 capable of normally controlling a shift control valve 62 for high speed stage. An oil path L17 for switching the switch valve 15 to a condition for controlling the shift control valve 61 by the solenoid valve 72, is connected to an oil path L11 on the output side of the solenoid valve 72 at a 'P' position or an 'R' position. When the system down is generated during the forward traveling in a state that the manual valve 5 is located at the 'D, M' positions as the forward travel range, a high-speed stage is established by the signal pressure of high pressure of the solenoid valve 72. When the manual valve 5 is switched to the 'R' position as the backward travel range position and the 'P' position as a parking range position in system down, the switch valve 15 is switched to the condition mentioned above by the signal pressure of high pressure of the solenoid valve 72, and then the low-speed stage is established by switching the manual valve 5 to the 'D, M' position.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent such failure that excessive rotation is generated on an engine by establishing first speed stage in a manual speed change range when a system is down at the time of traveling in an advance traveling range, in a vehicular automatic transmission capable of selecting an automatic speed change range and the manual speed change range as the advance traveling range. SOLUTION: A manual valve 5 is provided, which is capable of selecting a speed change lever to a position M as a manual speed change range for advance traveling other than positions P, R, N and D interlocking with an operation of a select lever. When speed is shifted down in the case where a system is down on high speed traveling in a high speed stage not less than 4 speed stage where the manual valve 5 is positioned on the position M, excessive rotation of an engine is generated. A control valve 16 is interposed in an input oil passage L17 of signal pressure, and is switched into a close position by oil pressure of a hydraulic connecting element B1 when a speed change stage which does not require establishment is established at the time of system down, and then, the control valve 16 is held to the close position when the select lever is positioned on the ranges D and M so as to obstruct shift down to a low speed stage.
