    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the discard rate of transmission data corresponding to the dynamic variation of mean transmission data quantity and to eliminate the influences of the steady traffics of buses other than its own one by changing dynamically the maximum queue length in a communication mode in response to the mean transmission data quantity and the accumulated transmission data quantity of every logical communication path or the queue staying time of the transmission data. SOLUTION: The mean transmission data quantity SP1 of its selected own path is compared with the mean transmission data quantity SP2 of another path (420, 421). If the quantity SP1 is larger than the quantity SP2, the queue length increment value is added to the maximum queue length variation value to change the latter value in a range under the maximum queue length (422). If the quantity SP1 is smaller than the quantity SP2, the maximum queue length variation value is changed in a range over the minimum queue length (423). Then the queue length is compared with the maximum queue length variation value (424, 425). If the former length is not more the latter value, the transmission data are accumulated in a transmission queue and adds 1 to these transmission data within the maximum variation value (426).

    • PURPOSE:To reduce a quantity of a memory used for a routing table of an internetwork equipment by compressing information and storing compressed information depending on the frequency of use of a routing table of each routing processor. CONSTITUTION:The equipment is provided with a relay controller 10 consisting of a relay control table 8 used to decide a relay destination network in a routing processor and of an entry retrieval device 9. The equipment is provided with an entry frequency of use discrimination device 13 to count the frequency of use of the relay controller 10 and minimized information of a network address discriminated not frequently in use by the device 13 is stored in a routing information compressor 11 in other form. When the routing of the network address of the other form is required, routing information is inquired of the routing manager 2 and the relay is made depending on the result and the routing information is generated by an entry generator 12 in a first entry form.

    • PURPOSE:To make a communication adapter, which performs communication processing in layer 2 or lower, report the end of transmission with data handled in layer 3 or higher as a unit. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 1 divides a file to be transmitted into plural transmission data and stores them in a transmission data area 11 and stores a transmission command for transmission of each transmission data in a transmission command area 10. The transmission command corresponding to the last of transmission data into which the file is divided includes discrimination information indicating that it is the last. A communication controller 20 of a communication control adapter 19 successively takes out transmission commands from the communication command area 11 and transmits transmission data in the transmission data area in accordance with these commands. When the taken-out transmission command includes discrimination information indicating that it is the last, a TX-RLS 21 of a transmission buffer state flag 27 is set. When the TX-RLS 21 is set, an interrupt is caused to the CPU 1. Consequently, the CPU 1 can freely designate the unit of the transmission end interrupt to the CPU 1.
