    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for driving a plasma display capable of displaying a high quality image picture by stably driving a display panel without malfunction even if an interval between discharge cells is narrowed. SOLUTION: A detection circuit 4 detects a light emitting pixel ratio of one screen from R, G, B digital data from A/D converter circuits 1, 2 and 3 and inputs it to a control pulse power supply 5 as a signal Vcont. According to the light emitting pixel ratio, the power supply 5 lowers subfield reset voltage in an image of a low ratio, and raises the subfield reset voltage in an image of high ratio. A signal processing circuit 7 performs processing required for display to the R, G, B digital signals from the A/D converter circuits 1, 2 and 3. A drive circuit 8 inserts a control pulse or the like required for the display into the signal from the processing circuit 7 from the power supply 5 and converts it into voltage for turning on a plasma display panel 9. Thus, even if the interval between the discharge cells is narrow, the occurrence of a bright spot or the like on a dark screen is prevented and reset discharge on a bright screen is surely performed, and the panel 9 is stably driven without malfunction.
