摘要： A printer driver enables a user to determine whether the features that are required to print a specified job are available to a selected network printer. The printer driver queries the selected printer to acquire the current status and other relevant information for each feature that is required to print the job, then provides the results of the query at a user interface. Accordingly, if any of the required features are unavailable to the selected printer, the user can print the job using another printer or take some other appropriate action.

摘要： In a printing method, content of a print job is split into a main portion and a completing portion at a user terminal (10). The main portion is encrypted using the user terminal. The encrypted main portion (32) is sent to a printing device (12). The completing portion is encrypted using a mobile device (20) operatively connected with the user terminal. The encrypted completing portion (34) is stored on the operatively connected mobile device. The mobile device is operatively disconnected from the user terminal, and is operatively connected with the printing device. After the operative connecting: (i) the encrypted main portion is decrypted using the printing device and the completing portion is decrypted using the mobile device; (ii) the decrypted main portion and the decrypted completing portion are combined to reconstruct the print job; and (iii) the reconstructed print job is executed using the printing device.

摘要： An image processing apparatus and method include a plurality of different background suppression data acquisition modes selectable by a user in order to obtain background suppression data from a document being reproduced. The obtained background suppression data is used by an image processing unit to suppress the background region of the document being reproduced. The user is able to select one of the plurality of background suppression data acquisition modes depending upon the user's desire for high speed document reproduction versus the required quality of background suppression. In this manner, the user is able to determine whether document reproduction speed or background suppression quality is to be emphasized. The user's choice of a background suppression data acquisition mode is selectively overridden if the image processing apparatus determines that a more performance-intensive background suppression data acquisition mode may be implemented to improve background suppression quality without an associated loss of document reproduction speed.

摘要： There is provided a method of performing a service on a job with a printing system in which the printing system is selectively operable in a first system mode and a second system mode. The method includes the steps of programming the job with instructions for directing the printing system to perform a selected service on the job with the programming step being performed in a selected one of the first system mode and the second mode. Additionally, the job is provided with a job tag for indicating the system mode in which the job was programmed. Finally, the system mode in which the printing system resides is determined and the job tag is compared with the determined system mode prior to performing the print-related service on the job. Preferably, the selected service is performed on the job when the system mode indicated by the job tag is the same as the determined system mode.
