    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray diffraction measuring instrument for achieving on-site observation by reading the X-ray diffraction spot of a sample over an entire space at one time and reducing the collection time of the intensity data of diffraction spots. SOLUTION: An X-ray diffraction measuring instrument has an X-ray source 11 for applying X-ray beams to a sample 13, a sample stage where the sample is arranged, a spherical surface X-ray detector 20 for detecting diffraction X rays generated by the sample, and a device for reading the position and intensity of an X-ray diffraction spot. It is preferable that the spherical surface X-ray detector 20 is constituted of divided spherical X-ray detectors 20a and 20b, a stimulable phosphor is applied to the inner surface of the sphere, and the X-ray diffraction measuring device has a device 50 for moving/exchanging the divided spherical surface X-ray detectors, reading devices 30a and 30b of X-ray intensity recorded on the stimulable phosphor, and afterimage erasing devices 40a and 40b of the stimulable phosphor.

    • PURPOSE: To quickly measure the element distribution and analyze the composition with high accuracy by applying a low-accelerating voltage electron beam to the surface of a sample, detecting the backward scattering electrons generated on the surface of the sample while observing the secondary electron image, and analyzing the luminance distribution. CONSTITUTION: A low-accelerating voltage electron beam is irradiated to the surface of a sample, a backward scattering electron image is displayed on an observation monitor 8, the gain of a backward scattering electron intensity amplifier 5 is adjusted to make the backward scattering electron strength to a constant luminance distribution, then the backward scattering electron intensity is fed to a measurement/analysis calculating device 9. It is compared with the backward scattering electron intensity of a sample with the known composition stored in advance to obtain the composition of the sample, and the measured/analyzed results are displayed on a measuring/ analyzing monitor 10. When the irradiating current is changed during the measurement, an irradiating current detector 6 detects the change of the irradiating current and sends signals to a controller 2 and the backward scattering electron intensity amplifier 5 via an irradiating current side measuring device 7 to control them so that the irradiating current becomes a set value.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the residual life of an apparatus by a method wherein the apparatus material with the same history as that of a real machine operation is subjected to an accelerating test over 100hr or more under a temp. and hydrogen partial pressure condition bringing the E-value obtained by a specific formula to a range of 100-200 to inverstigate the reduction quantity of the toughness value of the material and the presence of the generation of a methane gas bubble. CONSTITUTION:The toughness value (charpy impact tester) of an apparatus material piece (dummy material) with the history as that of a real machine operation is measured. Next, with due regard to a real machine operation condition, the temp. T' and hydrogen partial pressure P' of an accelerating test are determined so that the E-value of formula becomes a range of 100-200 and, under this condition, the dummy material is used to perform a hydrogen erosion accelerating test over 100hr or more. Subsequently, the presence of the generation of a methane gas bubble is investigated and the toughness value of the dummy material is measured. From the change quantity of the toughness values before and after the accelerating test and the presence of the generation of the methane gas bubble, the residual life of the apparatus can be estimated.

    • PURPOSE:To uniformize the temp. distribution in the axial direction of a sample and to homogenize the reformed layer of the sample by using a cylindrical sample holder having a liq. coolant passage to ion-mix a material having a cylindrical surface to be treated, rotating, and cooling the sample. CONSTITUTION:The sample holder 20 is supported by a supporting member 12 in a vacuum vessel 11, and provided with a holder 21 to be rotated by a motor 14 outside the vessel 11, a bearing 22, a rotating shaft 23, and a fixing nut 25. The holder 21 consists of an outer cylinder 21A and an inner cylinder 21B, and a cooling water passage 26 is formed between both cylinders. A sample 16 is firstly fixed on the outer surface of the holder 21, then the inside of the vessel 11 is evacuated, and cooling water kept at a specified pressure is supplied onto the inner surface of the holder 21. As a result, the outer surface is expanded and closely attached to the sample 16, and the sample 16 is uniformly cooled over its entire length. Under such conditions, the sample 16 is rotated on the rotating shaft orthogonal to the center of an ion beam, and ion mixing is carried out.

    • PURPOSE:To know the timing (service life) when hydrogen erosion arises and to prevent an accident by deterioration in material quality by measuring the change in the half value width of the X-ray diffraction wave of the higher order above the prescribed faces of a member 5o be used for a pressure vessel, piping material, etc., which are used under high-temp. high-pressure hydrogen. CONSTITUTION:An X-ray diffraction method is used in order to detect the hydrogen erosion to be generated in the pressure vessel, piping material, etc. which are exposed for a long period of time to the high-temp. high-pressure hydrogen environment. The X-ray diffraction wave thereof is then measured. The X-ray is converted by a monochrometer to a monochromatic ray at this time and the half value width of the diffraction wave of the Kbeta ray at the higher order than the 200 face of the member is measured without using an X-ray filter. The half value width of the X-ray diffraction wave of the member changes prior to a decrease of a Charpy absorption energy curve and, therefore, the non-destructive detection of the hydrogen erosion arising in the member is permitted by measuring said half value width.
