摘要： A surface treating appliance (10, Fig 1) comprises surface treating head (12, Fig 1), hose (88, Fig 1), main body (14, Fig 1), fan unit (76, Fig 5a) and changeover valve 110, comprising valve body (72, Fig 5a) and valve member 112, Valve body (72, Fig 5a) includes first section (68, Fig 7d) for receiving fluid flow from surface treating head (12, Fig 1), second section (80, Fig 7d) for receiving fluid flow from hose (88, Fig 1) and third section (108, Fig 7d) for conveying fluid flow towards fan unit (76, Fig 5a). Valve member 112 is selectively movable to connect either first section (68, Fig 7d) or second section (80, Fig 7d) to third section (108, Fig 7d). Valve body (72, Fig 5a) forms part of casing for fan unit (76, Fig 5a), in order to minimise the number of components of main body (14, Fig 1). Body (72, Fig 5a) may be integral with casing, and sections (68, 80, 108, Fig 7d) may be angularly spaced about a circular path defined by body (72, Fig 5a). Body (72, Fig 5a) may comprise a boss (124, Fig 7d) that valve member 112 is rotatably mounted upon. Valve drive 340 may rotate the valve member 112, which may be located between boss (124, Fig 7d) and drive 340.

摘要： The invention is a wall-mountable hand dryer 100 of the type which uses an air-knife to wipe the water from a user's hand. The hand dryer is has a maximum depth X, front-to-back, of less than 150mm when it is surface-mounted upon the wall. The dryer has a projecting part which projects outwardly either from the wall or from a rear part of the dryer, and the air-knife is directed downwardly onto a user's hand as it is passed lengthwise underneath the projecting part of the dryer. The air knife is discharged through one or more discharge apertures 17 which are positioned towards the front of the projecting part, spaced at least 75mm from the wall or from the rear part of the dryer. Preferably, the maximum depth is 101.6mm (4 inches) or less, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act 1990 (ADA), without need to recess the hand dryer. The discharge apertures may be arranged in a V-shaped configuration. Preferably, the air-knife is discharged at a speed of at least 80m/s. The dryer may comprise two slots 15, 17 or sets of air holes for discharging two respective, separate air knives: one air knife for each hand.
