    • A scroll-type compressor has a crankshaft connected to the rotor of an electric motor for causing an orbiting motion of an orbiting scroll member and having a main shaft formed at one end thereof and supported by a main bearing, an orbiting drive shaft formed on the side of an orbiting end plate opposite to an orbiting scroll wrap and received in an eccentric bearing disposed at an eccentricity in the main shaft, a rolling type upper bearing supporting the end of the crankshaft opposite to the main shaft, and a lift limiting plate fixed to the lower surface of the upper bearing to prevent excessive lift of the crankshaft. A step is formed on the crankshaft between a portion of a greater diameter at which the crankshaft is connected to the rotor, and a portion of a smaller diameter at which the crankshaft is received in the upper bearing. The compressor further has a support member resting on the inner race of the upper bearing and a fixing member by which the crankshaft is suspended and supported from the support member such that a small clearance is left between the surface of the step of the crankshaft and the lift limiting plate. This configuration suppresses the generation of noise in the upper bearing attributable to axial vibration and resonance of the shaft system.

    • A liquid container includes a negative pressure producing member accommodating chamber accommodating a negative pressure producing member for absorbing and retaining the liquid, and a liquid containing chamber for containing the liquid. The liquid containing chamber is in fluid communication with the negative pressure producing member accommodating chamber through a communicating portion, and is substantially sealed except for the communicating portion. A partition wall partitions the liquid container into the negative pressure producing member accommodating chamber and the liquid containing chamber except for the communicating portion. The negative pressure producing member is provided with a recess at a position corresponding to the communicating portion, wherein the recess forms a space and a ceiling portion of the space provided functions as a gas introduction surface which is substantially horizontal when the liquid container is in an in-use orientation.

    • An ink cartridge in which a space inside the ink cartridge is divided by a cylindrical bulkhead into two parts, a negative pressure generator chamber located inside the bulkhead and a liquid chamber located outside the bulkhead. The negative pressure generator chamber communicates with the atmosphere via an air intake port, communicates with an ink supply port, and contains a negative pressure generator. The liquid chamber contains liquid ink directly. The negative pressure generator chamber and the liquid chamber communicate with each other only via a communicating portion provided in the bulkhead. The entire peripheral surface of the lower portion of the negative pressure generator is in contact with the ink in the liquid chamber through the communicating portion continuously provided in the bulkhead.

    • The invention relates to a one-axis starter apparatus which can eliminate the use of a one-way rotation clutch and simplify the machining of the motor shaft, wherein while the first male helical spline is provided at the tip end of the motor shaft, the inner member is externally provided at the tip end portion of the corresponding motor shaft via the first female helical spline. The second male helical spline is provided in the screwing direction opposite to the first male and female helical splines, respectively, on the outer circumferential surface of the inner member, whereas the outer member, having a pinion gear formed thereon via the second female helical spline, is externally fitted to the corresponding inner member, and a pressing mechanism which presses the outer member toward the tip end o the starter apparatus intervenes between the corresponding outer member and the inner member.
